Zur Alten Mine is situated 5 km outside of Graskop. Guests can walk around the dam in the gardens or hike up to the old mine. Great host, very nice location and an excellent breakfast.

Incredible oasis in South Africa. We had an incredible stay at this accomodation. Wonderful host and amazing rooms in the green. The food was amazing. I'm sure I will return again next time I'm in the reagion, sure for longer than one night.

We booked this lodge by chance, hence our expectations were low. But what a gem it turned out to be! Entering the lodge through the macadamia groves you arrive at a green oasis. Large and well-maintained farm surrounded by old trees and blooming bushes. The next thing we were amazed by was the sounds! Like the best bird and insect orchestra. Complimenting these wild surroundings you get a cozy room with a comfortable bed and bathroom. The hosts – Charles and Mine – are simply awesome. Without them, this farm would be just a cozy place. But they made our stay special. From the very first moment when we entered the lodge, we felt that we were in caring hands. How passionate they are about everything they do! Prepping the food (definitely go for their traditional SA dinner), mindful suggestions about travel in the area, and unique information about the region. We felt how the love for Africa started raising in our hearts during our conversations. Finding the fresh flowers in the bathroom and being suggested the chair next to the fire in the evening – such small things made our stay unforgettable. We have only booked two nights and this is something we regret. Getting a few more days to stay would've been perfect. Just staying there doing nothing was already an experience. The location is truly unique, and the accommodation inside a converted train is 5 star luxury, it really is one of a kind, and the quality of service was outstanding, my wife and I had the most wonderful stay at Shalati, in fact I would say that we loved every minute of it. 🙏🙏

Our guide, Micaela, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The whole staff is super professional, and the facilities are great. Refreshing pool for a post game dip. Comfortable rooms, and good food. A dream come true!
