The location was excellent, within comfortable walking distance of the centre of town and the coastal walk. I had an ensuite room which was spacious, well appointed with the necessary coffee and tea etc, and clean. I'm a theatre nurse and a little OCD about cleanliness; the room and hotel satisfied my picky expectations.

Room was newly furnished, very clean and pleasant. Undergoing recent refurbishment, and the new fittings in the bathroom had control panels which came off when touched.

Consistently welcoming, clean, in good decorative order, and good value. Well located for town centre and coast, although current road and path closures (beyond the hotel's control) present some challenge.

It wasn't my first choice (I was catching the channel ferry and I would have preferred to have been in Dover) but what a pleasant surprise. I was travelling with my dog and I was amazed at how dog friendly the town was. I particularly liked the coastal walks and I enjoyed reading the informational plaques around the town. One thing I found so touching was Remembrance Road adorned with the handmade poppies. I was struck by how much effort the council has devoted to highlighting Folkestone's attractions and making them accessible to visitors. I enjoyed just wandering around the town with my dog and appreciating it's history and sights. Folkestone turned out to be a serendipitous experience and I'm glad that I didn't stay in Dover.

Folkestone has reasonable shopping facilities for a small town. It is close to some very beautiful areas of Kent, like the Elham Valley. It has excellent train service on the high speed trains from London Canterbury is about 45 minutes drive away and well worth a visit. If you enjoy walking in scenic countryside Folkestone is surrounded by it.
The town is hilly and getting down to the harbour means negotiating a fairly steep gradient, so might be less enjoyable or more challenging for people with mobility problems. There is a bus service.
There are restaurants, pubs, places to eat out but if you're on a budget there is an Asda, a Sainbury and a Lidl store in the town centre where you can buy food. There is a good bus service to Dover and to Canterbury.
On arrival we were upgraded to a lovely room with four poster bed. Staff were friendly and helpful. During dinner our waiter was very apologetic that we needed to wait for our starter and couldn’t have done more to look after us. The food was delicious.
We needed to leave early in the morning and so staff opened up the restaurant early for us so that we could still have a cooked breakfast before we left.
The manager asked us frequently how our stay was.
We would use this hotel again if in the area.
We have stayed at this Folkestone Holiday Inn Express several times and always receive a warm welcome when checking in. The hotel is extremely well located for the EuroTunnel. The rooms are basic, clean, comfortable and relatively spacious. Breakfast is very good - cereals, breads, yoghurts, fruit, eggs, bacon, sausages etc. and the vending machines deliver hot, fresh coffee, tea, chocolate etc. Thank you to all the staff (in all departments) who work hard to provide a good experience for guests.
My room was clean and not too tiny. I needed an open window (hottest day of the year ? Thurs 16 June) at night and there was a strong external light, luckily not directly in to the room. Good tea / coffee facilities. Sadly booming TV next door and later snoring, so walls very thin.
Excellent full breakfast which was great value too. Pleasant, calm dining area. This was a cheap hotel - real value for money but you can't then be too picky. Staff were pleasant and very tolerant !
Great location , family rooms are clean and spacious. Had to call the number on the door prior to check in where a friendly staff member came to meet us and explained about the parking and check in . Family room had all the amenities such as wifi , tea & coffee making facilities, bottled water and complimentary chocolates on the bed was a nice touch . It’s not a 5 star hotel but if you want a clean basic place whilst in the area I would recommend
As I have a mobility scooter we were relocated to a ground floor room. This, for obvious reasons, was not the executive room for which I had paid. Also, we did not get the continental breakfast for which I had paid, at £6 per person per night. So, I reckon we are due a partial refund. I have to say, however, that John was superb and a credit to the hotel. He helped me get my scooter in and out of the hotel, as all entrances had steps.
My stay at the Clifton hotel Folkestone was superb from start to finish, very nice and helpful staff great room with views of the sea. clean well appointed room and very quite too. I had a great nights sleep and a superb breakfast with lots of options
to choose from. The hotels location was excellent being right on the seafront and Parking available at a minimal charge.
I can say without question I shall try and stay here again
Such a lovely property, really nice and comfortable room with everything you need, great breakfast - tasty and a good choice of hot and cold food. Very attentive and friendly staff. Fresh homemade cake in the afternoon was amazing - best banana bread I’ve ever eaten. Great location too, only a few minutes from the sea. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Folkestone.
We have stayed at this hotel before and were looking forward to visiting again. We had a really lovely room with a sea view, the hotel is in a perfect location for beach, walks and shopping. All the staff are lovely and go out of their way to help.
We had breakfast in the restaurant and that was superb.
Looking forward to going back next year (or sooner if we can)!
Beautiful property in an idyllic setting and just two minutes from the Eurotunnel. Didn’t have time to sample breakfast at the hotel but had a great one packed for us by the owners. Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable and very quiet. Will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend a stay here.
Nicely furbished, very clean guest house in a pleasant part of Folkestone.
Good access to the front, and for our plans on the east Kent coast.
Pleasant hosts. Welcoming of our dog.
Convenient for Eurotunnel.
Off street parking, if a bit tight.
Zoe was a wonderful host. She accommodated our daughter at the last minute, was very helpful, and the. property was gorgeous. We would totally stay there if ever we went back to Folkestone. We just wish we had had more time there. Thank you Zoe.
This is the second time booking a single room for solo travel to Folkestone. The Clifton is ideal. It is clean, very comfortable beds, great seaside location. The single rooms are small, but have everything I need and I feel safe there.
This hotel was a lovely find & perfectly located to visit Folkestone (which we'd never visited before - wish we had been there longer?) The restaurant was excellent & the staff very friendly & helpful - we will be back!
Very clean and well designed hotel right by the sea. Amazing and friendly staff, allowed us to keep our luggage for the day therefore we could enjoy a whole day in Folkestone.
For a one night functional stay to take an early crossing the hotel fits the bill. Staff were very friendly and there's plenty of parking with cameras. The hotel was clean.
