If you like drinking and being a general yahoo in the streets then Torquay would be the ideal location for you. Definitely don’t recommend driving your car, as you’ll need to walk miles to get to it.
Overrated, with no class to it at all.

Torquay is a lovely English seaside town, has lots of links to Agatha Christie and some great local restaurants and bars. Lots of things to do only down side is at the moment the town is under going many road works in and out so getting about can be a bit slow by car/taxi. its also very hilly so walking can be difficult if in anyway unabled.

Been to Torquay regularly down the years, but we missed last year due to other commitments. Couldn't believe the change. What has happened to the town? It is a dishevelled, shabby place. Now full of beggars, roadworks, and boarded up shops. Thoroughly depressing and I'm so sad to say that I will not be returning. It is a ghost of what it once was, the jewel in Torbay. Couldn't wait to leave..

Pleasant seaside situation, somewhat run down town centre,...
Pleasant seaside situation, somewhat run down town centre, plenty of restaurants, very hilly, parking is a nightmare and at the moment there is reconstruction going on in the middle of town. It has a charm of a sort and some nice walks if fit. There is a reasonably good bus service to take you to other local towns - Dawlish, Teignmouth, etc - and there are quite a few beaches although as we visited in April and had a planned reason to stay we didn't visit any. Visitors need to choose their hotel carefully - we saw some examples of what might politely be called faded buildings.
Brilliantly run hotel helpful and polite staff clean and tidy comfortable rooms breakfast has plenty of flavour and quality not like the over priced Premier inn choice . Lounge area is very relaxing and I would highly recommend for business or travel . Shame that Torquay town centre is so run down with closed shops and down and outers begging for money . The government seriously need to spend some tax payers money for regeneration in this area shame really as the Hilton is a quality establishment
The Villa Marina was in a very good location and nice walk into Torquay.
On arrival we were welcomed by the lovely Erwan who provided us towels as we where a little wet from the rain. Checked us in and gave us a map on various places to visit.
Loved the personalised touches in the rooms.
Breakfast was delicious.
Vincent and Erwan are so friendly and made our stay very enjoyable.
Highly recommended and will be back.
Thanks x
Wow! 100% recommend Dave & Linda's place. The communication was the best I have ever experienced. The apartment felt more like a 5 star hotel! Super clean, comfortable, spacious, everything you need, including doggie basket with treats, blanket, bowls. Views from windows and terrace were lovely. Location spot on for shops, restaurants, harbour, beach. I will be recommending this place and staying again when in Torquay!
I needed a last minute hotel room for a night out in Torquay. This hotel was over £100 per night cheaper than the next cheapest option. It is definitely "no frills", but was clean and the bed was very comfy, and it didn't matter that I came back to the room in the wee early hours. It may not be the most aesthetically pleasing hotel but it certainly did the job and I'm grateful to have found somewhere so reasonable.
We wanted somewhere to stay for our daughter's wedding based at the Imperial Hotel in Torquay. We came across Palm Grove Apartments and struck gold! We had 3 apartments, one was a 2 bedroom, and all of them were to a very high standard and prefect for our needs. The hosts could not have done more, very friendly and great communication. We would not look elsewhere if we were to stay in Torquay for another occasion
This is the best small hotel we have stayed at in England! We will definitely be back.
Lovely comfy bed, great decoration and ample storage. The shower room was compact but extremely clean and tidy.
The towels are great quality and a good size. Home made fudge, sweets and Netflix on the TV. The breakfast choices were many and the quality of the locally sourced items was very good. A great tasty breakfast!
Lovely old style hotel. We had a sea room view that was beautiful. It wasn’t a cheap stay but it was August and we’d booked relative short notice. Rooms are adequate and very clean but probably not too far from needing renovating. Staff are lovely. Best location in Babbacombe. Good buffet breakfast. A few nice pubs and eateries around, and more in nearby Torquay.
We were here for 9 weeks looking for somewhere to live in the area, the staff are all friendly and helpful, the rooms we stayed in were all clean and comfortable, the last 7 weeks we were in one of the suites and honestly we didn't want to leave.
I can not recommend this hotel highly enough it was the perfect welcome to Torquay.
This is a lovely upscale hotel in a convenient location. So easy to walk down to the water and all the activities. We had free parking in their own lot. The breakfasts were lovely, and having a drink on the front patio was very pleasant.
The best thing about this hotel is the Leisure centre. Great swimming pools/ jacuzzi/spa etc. The main hotel is like a rabbit warren of corridors with very squeaky floors. But the rooms are clean with comfortable beds and linens
Room with a nice size, great view to the sea.
Really nice breakfast, plenty to choose.
staff was really nice always.
beautiful hotel, really nice sizes for everything, breakfast with a view is another think.
Not one single thing - checked in and checked out 20 mins later. Unclean, unsafe, dirty, rude staff appalling disgusting this chain needs to address this hotel and how it is run immediately
The lady on the front desk was ever so helpful and all the staff were very nice and everyone made a fuss of our dog with the hotel being so dog friendly made a very refreshing change.
The view and access to the sea had to be the best value for money with location and views won us over for the cheapest avaliable hotel at the time we were over impressed with it a*
Such a comfortable hotel. Everything in the room was obviously high quality and San and Sabita were so friendly and helpful. Nothing but praise for this hotel. Great position too
It was just as expected (I stayed in 2022 ) Its basic but does the job. Absolutely clean, comfortable, no problems, decent price, plenty parking at hotel or just outside
