Beautiful views of the sea, especially sunrise. Great mountain views. It was uncharacteristically cold and windy so no hiking but trails exist. Easy access to the national park with black beaches, lighthouses, lava tubes and volcano views. Nothing open in winter, you'll have to drive to Arnarstapi (5 minutes) or 30 min around the peninsula for any food or fuel.NeilUnited States - 10Scored 10

Not much nearby - but nice walk down to beach (with cafe). Hotel rooms are cosy but clean and comfortable - timber framed so not much noise insulation. We had a great stay for one night as a family of four with two sea view rooms - and were pleasantly surprised how good the restaurant food was considering how remote the hotel is. Very impressed by how friendly all the staff were - every single one said hello/good morning etc with a smile as you passed them

It's also walking distance to the "hotel" in Hellnar, and they have a very good restaurant. Hellnar was a perfect base for us to do some day trips around the peninsula. It's also close to some of the popular attractions.
