Hótel Karólína was such a nice place to stay; the room was comfortable and the shared lounge was a lovely space to spend some relaxing time. The person who made the breakfasts (sorry can't remember her name) was just delightful and meeting her was one of the highlights of our stay!

We really liked this place - lovely and spacious house that looked small from outside, but is so comfortable and nice inside. Everything was clean, bed is comfortable, well equipped kitchen, clear instructions about most important things and also additional information about Icelandic traditions. :) Very nice location - the view from windows is amazing - a lake, mountain and church. Very good experience, highly recommend this place!

Only a couple of hours from Reykjavik but this place feels very much away from it all. The roads in and out aren't the easiest depending on the weather. We visited in early April and got stuck in snow (twice!) on the way in taking the northern road then feared getting stuck due to road closures and difficult driving conditions on the way out but we made it. Because of this we didn't get to see as much as we'd have liked. But we did have excellent takeaway fish and chips from the harbour front at Hafnarvaginn

Small, quiet (at this time of year) but very peaceful and beautiful! We caught our best show of the northern lights here! Also, would highly recommend Narfreyrarstofa for dinner, delicious and great atmosphere!

I loved the small-town vibe and charming Icelandic architecture located on an active harbour. Beautiful ocean views from the harbour-adjacent island walk! Enjoyed soaking at the local pool/hot pots, and happy to have a bakery, grocery store, and restaurants to choose from for meals. I would gladly stay here again, or for more than one night to see some of the local museums which were closed over Easter weekend.

The staff was excellent and very accommodating. They knew the area well and could recommend meals and other services to us. We ate at a very nice fish restaurant where the one waitress ran the entire restaurant efficiently and in a timely fashion.Great food

Great location on north side of peninsula.
Great location on north side of peninsula. Wish we’d had more time to explore. Excellent northern lights viewing near the lighthouse. Go up the stairs toward the lighthouse and turn left to block harbor lights.

It is a nice little town by the sea.
It is a nice little town by the sea. There is a small hill by the harbor you can climb that offers beautiful views. There are also a few restaurants, cafes, shops and museums but it is also nice to just walk around.
A very welcoming experience in a hotel that feels far more personal and in ways more like a guest house. The staff were very helpful and accommodating, happy for us to bring fish and chips from the harbour front (Hafnarvagninn - recommended) to eat in the cozy reception where many guests were hanging out with a drink. We opted for breakfast (which wasn't included) and this was really well presented, not as a buffet but as an individual full table spread.
The whole guesthouse was extremly clean: The room itself, the bath and even the breakfast room! The guesthouse is located in the city centre - you can easily walk to restaurants & the lighthouse. The breakfast was very good with bread, yoghurt, fruits and more (very good price). The owner was very nice and event sent us our phone charger (that we had forgotten in our room) to our next hotel! Modern and huge bathroom!
Nice little cottage/apartment in the outskirts of Stykkishólmur. It has all the facilities with a mini kitchenette where you can cook. Has a nice sofa and overall well maintained.
I had read reviews that had expressed concerns about the bedroom in the attic which is almost like crawling space, but we had no problems with it.
Overall, a nice stay with great value for money.
Would highly recommend for couples wanting a simpler, more private stay without the fuss and cost of a hotel. Great location on a sheep farm (fun to have the sheep wandering around). The small kitchen was perfect - we ended up going to the grocery store in town (very close drive), and made soup for dinner. Loved having the "holy mountain" right there for walking.
This was the most beautiful hotel we had on our 3 week trip to Iceland! It‘s freshly renovated, very high ceiling and the appliances are of decent quality (not only Ikea and if Ikea, then the better quality stuff).
Stykkisholmur is a very scenic little town, absolutely worth a visit.
This is, without doubt, one of the best stays I`ve had in Iceland. The host was very kind and helpful. Cottages and hotel rooms were very clean. They provide all the kitchen appliances you need. Great location, I would definitely spent more days there if I had time.
Excellent breakfast, wide range of choices. Staff was friendly. Happy hour 3-6 PM was nice. Well located hotel, our room had a view of the landmark church and the ocean. Beds were a little more firm than we would have liked but comforter and pillows were good.
This was a lovely hotel in an excellent location. The staff were all especially helpful and friendly. The breakfast was excellent. Had they not been fully booked we would have liked an extra night. ⁰We would definitely stay again.
Very clean and comfortable hotel located right in the heart of Stykkishólmur. Staff is very friendly and helpful with answering any questions you may have. Would highly recommend staying here when visiting the area.
After 5 days traveling the country and staying in Airbnbs it was very nice to stay in a hotel. Most water in Iceland has an odor to it, there was none at this hotel and it was greatly appreciated.
Great location next to a golf place, comfy kitchen with everything you need, super clean. It's a self check-in hotel, so you can travel without pressure.
