The location is convenient geographically to go around the Akan-Mashu national park. The room was rather large. The onsen was open 24/7 and also rather spacious.

I stayed with my boyfriend in Polaris during our trip to eastern Hokkaido. The pension is located in one area with amazing nature, close to  Lake Mashu and Lake Kussharo. The owners are very friendly and made us feel at home. They are very passionate about what they are doing and the pension is really cared of in every detail. They also gave us precise indications about famous and less known sightseeing destinations nearby. There were also two wonderful cats, they did not disturb and they were really a great company. We were able to see a starry sky with the owner's telescope and the owner took us a great photo with professional equipment. The dinner and the breakfast were also excellent and with many fresh local products. I would highly recommend Polaris and I would definitely go again.

a wonderful and super helpful owner. He was - understandably so - a bit grumpy on our late / late night arrival, but wrote the most beautiful letter next day to express his feelings. 2 private Onsen pools, one in- and one out-doors. Superb and a high potential to get addicted. Every appartment has its own individual art. Just lovely! It is a truely unique place to which we would return every single time, even when only remotely around.

Hotel Masyu features a public natural hot spring bath, which is accessible day and night. The hotel offers Japanese-style rooms, a games area and free bicycle use.

Quite a spacious Japanese traditional room, a heater to warm up the room as the weather was quite chilly. The staff were helpful too. An area on the 1st floor to play simple games which turned out to be quite fun as it was raining and we did not explore outside much.

A very nice hostel, the best equipped kitchen I've seen so far. Everything was very clean and the staff was friendly, you can rent a car or a bike. Aside from the location everything was perfect

The heater worked well in the room. The location's okay if you want to go hiking, but there really isn't much other choice of accommodation in the area, so is that really a plus? We saw a crane from the window of our room; that was nice.

Room is spacious which makes it easy to open our luggages. Dinner and breakfast is decent for the price paid. They even have rooibos tea! 😊
