I was upgraded to a bigger room and I had my own outside seating area. Excellent and plenty of choices of food for breakfast. The restaurant also served delicious lunch and dinner. The location was safe and quiet. Security on property. Friendly owners and staff. The back up generator really helped when the whole Zanzibar lost power for several hours.

Best thing about hotel is that you can ask whatever you want and 99% of your wishes come true.
As European I like some things made differently as they are in Africa but if you ask the hotel staff makes it!
As example I can say they make awsome tuna stakes if you ask them! And they also add rum to your coconut if you ask. So the main tip is - ASK!
Moreover, as experienced travelwr I have been reading reviews about the hotel and two things were very disturbing (a) that the selection of food os not very rich; and (b) that the tides make the sea go away for a far far way.
To tackle that I shall say that (a) food is good and changes everyday, so even on 11 night stay you will have a varios optios to choose from (especialy if you are into sea food); (b) tides are constant but there was no day with out sea at your foot steps to the pool, meaning that some times you have to wait half a day before sea comes back but it eventualy does.
Featuring a terrace with Indian Ocean views, set by sandy Kiwengwa Beach, the 30-acre site includes a spa, pool and sports facilities.

Kiwengwa is a perfect place to spend time with the family.
Kiwengwa is a perfect place to spend time with the family. Exquisit nature, kind people and the best food. Boat trips, beach activities, village strolls, getting to know the culture of local people who are very knowlegeable about the natural agriculture and extreemly kind and nice. We loved every minute of our stay at Kiwengwa.

I loved the colour, clarity and temperature of the water.
I loved the colour, clarity and temperature of the water. The sand was so soft and almost white. I didn't like the hassle on the beach though. It was easier to stay at the hotel to avoid it. But that's not why you visit another country!

Quiet part of the island with beach among the nicest.
Quiet part of the island with beach among the nicest. That meant fewer people and tranquility which was what I was looking for during that trip. The hotel was also exactly what I need. All the facilities (gym, massage, sports activities) + excellent food at a reasonable cost. And Fatma the day manager was great. A wonderful person and soul

The restaurant and other staff were extremely courteous and helpful in all circumstances.
The Food and Beverager Manager Zablon is a kind and focused man, results oriented.
it’s absolutely beautiful villas with private pool surrounded by beautiful nature and the view it’s taking you complete away from everything! staff is really making this place feel very comfortable they are very friendly and trying to help out with everything you are required! special thanks to Benny and his brother for making our trip unforgettable with beautiful tours around the island! highly recommended ! Sandy beach is 5 min driving from hotel absolutely beautiful place with a lot of beach bars and restaurant in the sea!
We’ve spent our last day in Zanzibar at kiwengwa beach at Lapili residence and I can say that everything was so pleasant, from the the lovely owners to the kindness of the whole staff, helpful and always smiling. Everything was simply amazing! The apartment in African style with comfortable beds, the beautiful pool and relaxing area, the beach and the food at the restaurant that was very good and tasty.
Would definitely stay here again and already recommended this gem to my friends. It’s a great value for money.
Roberta the hotel manager was amazing. she is super nice and we had great conversations with her. the two dogs at the property were the cutest little creatures. very nice garden to chill and relax away from the very busy beach. it is a little oasis.
rooms are very new, beautifully designed and the AC and internet are working great. the rooms are a short walk to the restaurant and the beach. the restaurant is beautiful and there are several sun beds to chill. overall the staff was very friendly.
Two big powers are stuff and location. Everybody was so friendly, nice and helpful, addressing any question we had. Hotel is small, just on the beach, good food, smiling faces, very chilled atmosphere. Special thanks to Sacha, who was everywhere and always, organizing us the trips for seeing dolphins, snorkling and etc, being very flexible, telling us stories about the culture and life, letting us beat him in cards games and bringing us to the airport at night :) We will come back.
The place is great and the staff sooo nice. We had beautiful holidays in kiwengwa beach resort ! Just in front of the beach and with 3 big pools inside so you can choose your favorite place. It was perfect. There were a lot of activities organised by the hotel, big clean room in front of the beach and/of of a pool, big buffet with a lot of choices… We had also 3 different massages at the spa for a very good price. It was amazing and I ll come back for sure !!
it was small & beautiful, decorated in Zanzibari style, clean & great air conditioning! It’s on the east side of the island, much quieter & secluded than Stone Town. the staff was wonderful & respected our privacy. The food was excellent—- Italian chef cooked great dishes ( I wish he wouldn’t have yelled at his staff so much!)
They were helpful with taxis & excursions. We have no complaints at all & really enjoyed our time there, we also felt very safe!
The Melia Zanzibar is a good hotel without direct access to the beach
The staff is perfect.
But we can't consider this a 5 star hotel.
The breakfast is poor.
The is no beach access.
The decoration is old and not appropriate for a 5 star hotel.
We asked an upgrade for the Melia The Level and there you can consider has a 5 star hotel but the food and breakfast once again is too poor for the price.
I would return because of the staff.
This was a cute little place. It was a very last minute booking and also our first time to Zanzibar so we didn't know what to expect. Everywhere in Zanzibar gets a 8+, 9+ rating which I found strange as so many of them are not that rating in my opinion. I feel like someone is doing the ratings for hotels there! The room was very big which was nice. It looked right onto the ocean. Deeda, the receptionist was lovely and very helpful.
One of the best places I ever visited in my life. Italian style hotel in the middle of Zanzibar. I was pretty scared due to low amount of Comments , but place really exceed my expectations. Thank for one of the most beautiful vacation. Food in hotel is Italian and very tasty. Breakfast is amazing. Room is super clean. Right on beach front. People are super cool. Thank you!
Value for money. Loved the beachy vibes; stepping out our door, feet in the sand, straight to the beach. The food was delicous and we enjoyed reading a book in the hammocks. Chantal also helped us out with information about activities and provided tips for our further trip in Zanzibar. Truly recommend this place and restaurant when staying in the Kiwengwa area.
+ professional & friendly team
+ decent wifi
+ delicious breakfasts with a wide variety of fruit
+ one of the best overall menu in Kiwengwa, octopus was outstanding!
+ beautiful beach with absolutely amazing sounds of ocean waves which we could hear from our room
+ great design inside & outside - white dream really stands out among other hotels in kiwengwa
We had an amazing week here in Zanzibar, the Hotel is near the famous and cool Kiwengwa beach and the manager of the Hotel (Daniele) helped us for everything…tours, food, tips about the island every time impeccable, helpful and polite. Good Breakfast, lovely rooms in Zanzibar style. Everything nice! Thanks a lot!
Too bad it was only for 2 days! Unfortunately the hotel was full and we could not stay longer. As the hotel is new, there were a few shortcomings, but overall great. Very nice rooms, clean, satellite TV which is not so obvious on Zanzibar, air conditioning and a fan. I recommend!
It was such a wonderful stay of my life, the customer care was top notch. Victor the front office manager makes a lot of difference at Kiwengwa beach.Always available to assist.
Because of such people we cannot think twice but confirm another visit soon.
It is a small oasis in Zanzibar!
We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights, but really wished we could stay more. Staff was superfriendly and helpful, food was amazing and the location is truly a gem! 100% recommend!!!
Very nice hotel.
The food in the restaurant is excelent and it has a lot of options.
Staff is very well-trained.
The massage was very good.
The rooms are huge, very nice bathroom.
Nice pool and private beach.
During our vacation we booked 3 different hotels for the same price per night, Marafiki was the best in terms of comfort, facilities, staff and restaurant.
Definitely recommend!
location right on the beach, infinity pool, wonderful breakfast and dinner, friendly staff, the beach is quite quiet in comparison to other Zanzibar beaches.
