The location is nice. The food was good at all the restaurants. I did not like that I could not bring a lounge chair on to the sand and had to keep it on the grass area.

Very pretty property, pools, hot tubs, Rooms are clean with a nice little deck. We ate at the lounge which had a great local band playing. The restaurant looked interesting, but like most restaurants in kauai, expensive. Everything worked well for us,
not sure it has a real kid friendly vibe at the restaurants or inside the main hotel. But they liked the pools for sure. Great location to kick off or end your trip close to the airport if you have an early or late flight, 10 minute drive.

Fantastic location right on the beach. Super clean, friendly staff, beautiful landscaping and cutely decorated rooms. Free valet & bike use. Easy checkin and checkout. Recently renovated that is still ongoing but reconstruction was very quiet. Beds were extra firm but not uncomfortable. Location right next to Coconut Market Place for souvenir shopping with a Ross and grocery store across the street.

The location is a few minutes from the airport, Walmart and the beach. Everything was clean and the staff was great. Coffee made in the lobby from 8 to 11 am. The kitchen had a small fridge with a freezer comp, hot plate with some pans and everything needed to make and eat small meals. Hot water, comfy bed, towels and soap. AC worked great. Recommend the stay if you need to be by the airport or on this end of the island.

Lihue is a small working town that serves the tourist industry and the local population. They have rush-hour traffic problems., which I experienced, and the traffic problems on the island are growing.
That said, the locals are friendly, they want us to visit, and I felt safe wherever I went. Plenty of amenities.

Close in shopping at similar prices to what we pay at home.
Close in shopping at similar prices to what we pay at home. This was a private unit so you need to buy your own toilet paper if you run out (front desk won’t give you any). Safeway is close with a Starbucks, food trucks abound (do try them), Kona’s fish and chips are sooooo good! Don’t miss the museum down town. Waze directions app is amazing at getting you around. Costco is close, so is an Urgent Care. Don’t worry if you leave something home, you can easily buy it there.

the airport in lihue so it is easy to get to. most folks stay in kapa'a, which has many more food options. lihue has good coffee (it should. coffee is grown on the island) and a nice beach at the marriott hotel. it is a convenient place for exploring the island but is a town. it is not a resort location. good kuwai museum in lihue, tho. i recommend the museum. just don't stay at the tip top hotel. it is a dive,

This was our first time in Kaui and we only stayed 4 days, then flew to Oahu. We could have stayed longer in Kaui, there is so much to see and do. We really like to drive around the island and find places and things to do. Its definitely more of a day adventure island. It is beautiful. I had a hard time finding something affordable to stay at, and the Royal Sonesta in Lihue ended up being an affordable option, and turned out to be a great option. Although close to the airport, you dont feel like you are. We dont really hang out at the resort so it didnt matter to us where the hotel was however this ended up being a great spot as we were right in the middle and can getting to either side of the island did not take long

The "grand canyon" was beautiful. The flora was beautiful.
The "grand canyon" was beautiful. The flora was beautiful. Too many resorts spoiled the north island to be able to enjoy it. The island was flooded with people and cars which is not what I remember from a maui visit many years ago. I felt sad for the long time residents to have their way of life spoiled by so many of us visitors and condo owners.
We love, love, love this condo and the entire property. Awesome location right next to Kauai Beach resort, use of their 4 pools was included, though not necessary, as we had a lovely pool and spa right at the condo. Loved the privacy of our own condo, free parking, grounds were beautiful and very well cared for. Villas have 30 second to 4 minute walk to the villa beach, depending on which unit you are in. Condo itself is adorable, and the location was perfect for trips to Lihue (to stock up), and beaches north, east, south and west.
The Banyan Harbor was a very well-priced and convenient location to spend the night after a late evening arrival at Lihue airport. It checked all my boxes, top among them adequate space for our family of 5 and free parking (although parking spots were not easy to find). The staff we met were very low-key but incredibly helpful, friendly, and patient. It's not glamorous, but it's comfortable and flexible. The kitchenette was handy, although we didn't make use of it, and nice touches included free ground coffee and wifi.
It's a motel. You'll have plenty of parking options, the shower is hot and the room is clean. Bathroom will have soap and shower gel with one towel per person. When checking in after 2:30pm they'll tell you the room number and leave the door open for a self check in. It's more expensive than usual motels, but that's just the Hawaiian price. It's still one of the cheapest options.
My Fitbit recorded the best sleep I ever had although I'd say it's a usual bed. Generally would recommend and stay there again.
The place is perfection is you have kids. We travelled with our 5-year old son and the pool was his favourite part. You really cannot beat the outdoor pool area. On top of that, the rooms are huge with tons of space. We stayed at the Sheraton for the first part of our vacation, and are so glad we chose Royal Sonesta for the rest of it. Absolute best money value for the money and we will be staying here when we come back!
Tip Top is local. I have lived on Island, owned a condo in Kapa'a before, and if the Marriot is your flavor of tea then go for the cheesy and expensive digs. Here is the truth.. if your on Kauai on vacation how much time do you expect to stay in a room? Well kept up, no bugs at all. The restaurant is a landmark in Lihue. I wish we had the same here in my town!!!
The food was wonderful... the view from the balcony was amazing, the pool and the grounds were absolutely beautiful, poolside service was awesome, the staff were super helpful, the room was clean, the shower was deluxe, and the bed was just right... really really impressed with my vacation here, would highly recommend this hotel! I hated to go home...
This is our go-to place when needing an overnight near the airport. Staff is great, place is simple, clean and you can pick the room that's best for you. There are exterior stairs to second floor rooms, so keep that in mind if you have heavy luggage. Close walk to local restaurants (diner, ramen, etc) and Kauai Brewing (who also has food).
We chose Kauai Inn for it's central location on the island and reasonable price. We wanted to explore the whole island and Lihue is convenient for going both North and South. The staff and amenities were nice bonuses. We felt very welcome by the friendly and helpful staff and loved the 24hr coffee. Towels and extras were very nice, too.
The kitchen was supplied with almost everything you could ever need.plenty of glasses, mugs and dinnerware. It was immaculately clean. The location, Lihue, was the perfect base for driving around the island, and there was a beach across the road with restaurants and bars right there. Highly recommended.
It's a charming motel. The AC was a window unit. I had a pleasant night's rest. Keep in mind. all over Kauai, even at 5 star hotels, you will hear roosters crow in the morning and before sunset. Don't like it, go somewhere else.
The hotel property is very well maintained. The pools and common areas are clean and well manicured. It is close to Lihue and the airport and right on the beach. As a resort, this ticks all the boxes.
Liked the friendly staff, access to beach, pool, hot tub, kitchen, and balcony with tables and chairs. Also liked the access to neighboring hotel pools, bar, and restaurants.
