The water slide, pools. and diving area were incredible. Food was excellent with good options. Breakfast was excellent. Loved the location nestled away in nature. Grounds are stunning. And of course the "standard king room" is a full size suite / 1 bedroom apt!

There's something magical about this little beach community.
There's something magical about this little beach community. The vibe and energy are great- restaurants and bars with excellent food & drink everywhere. Locals and tourists are friendly and helpful. We know a tiny bit of Espanol but were able to communicate with no issues, and English is spoken more prevalently than I had expected. Can't wait to visit again!!

It is a busy town, with lots of surfers and retired folks living or visiting. Lots of motorbikes for getting around. Some excellent restaurants along the beach front including Henry's Iguana Bar, and Maggies' Restaurant up the street. Good fish tacos at little kiosk. Great beach walks, lovely sunsets and a few hikes to do. One to the Jesus protecting the bay and the other to the lighthouse on the opposite side of bay. Wear good shoes for those.

Great little beach town with numerous bars and restaurants with amazing sunset views. Very walkable even in flip flops. Not a bad meal to be found! Lots of fun places to watch American football if you like that.

everything is walking distance, you can get to the know the town easily just walking around. I liked Vivian restaurant, nice place, clean, friendly staff.
the beach was full of trash... plastic trash, cups, bottles, cookie wraps, cans... trash all over the sand and in the ocean and for some reason nobody seems to care. it was very impressive and quite sad.
Looking Good Surf House was a great place to stay!

The town wasn't as bad as I was expecting!
The town wasn't as bad as I was expecting! pretty calm in the day and evening, not sure about after that! we were there 2 days and for us that was just right. We went to Remanso beach one day and Maderas beach the other. Rented boards at each and tried to surf! Maderas waves were better, at least when we were there in April. We were at the beaches for about 5 hours each day. I didn't love the fact that Remanso had no shade and neither seemed to have much for facilities, except the few bars/restaurants that you kinda had to eat/drink at in order to have some shade or a shower or somewhere to hang out. Not really my favourite scene. SJDS itself was small town seeming in the center and easy to get around walking and lots of food options and the beach in town was great to explore with the kids, swim or watch sunset. It's easy to get in and our of either on bus from Rivas or taxi- 20$ from the Ometepe Ferry for 4 of us. 25$ to the border organized through Casa Oro.

In the town there are a lot of open sewers and the smell is bad in many places. There is a lot of trash here and there. There is a lot of trash around the beach. The food is ok, the prices are alright. The better prices are away from the beachfront.
Tamarindo is a much nicer and cleaner beach. The Nica's need to clean up the trash and the open sewers.

We are very happy to have chosen Buena Onda! The building is amazing with beautiful communal areas and stunning views! Celine’s breakfasts were unbelievable - not just for Nicaragua but for anywhere in the world - absolutely delicious and beautifully presented! The rooms are large, airy and very comfortable. Baba and Celine are the very best hosts - with great kindness and excellent advice. We loved it so much we extended our stay - we were very sad to leave and hope to visit again soon. Thanks for a wonderful visit
We loved everything about it, especially the quick response when it comes to issues we had on the property like no electricity, I texted Ricardo the person in charge he came right away at 5 am to turn on the generator. The view is amazing! Really worth it! Now if you do not like the noise at night I will recommend bringing earplugs. Nature is amazing and san juan del sur is close as well.
Thank you Ricardo see you next year!
P.s you will need a 4x4 auto 🛺
I loved the location, the ambiamce of the place . The room was comfy. enough towels were available, and the bed was good enough to get 8 hr sleep. Wifi was strong in my room, I was upstairs with view of San Juan del Sur beach.
The breakfast was very tasty fruit, eggs, toast, coffee and gallo pinto as well. Also the owner was very charming cool dude
I would definitely return, the beach access was amazing. Right on the playa!
Great stay at TapiHouse! Excellent service from Rafa and the staff. My sink broke and he not only got it fixed immediately but also offered to put me in a different room. Breakfast was great - I came back late one day from surfing (past breakfast time) and the staff still made me breakfast. The room is comfortable enough. AC is huge plus. Awesome location in San Juan Del Sur and great value for the price paid!
This is a great place to hang out with the family for a few days. Our room was huge with everything you need including a big comfy king size bed. The pool area is excellent and the place is very well maintained and beautifully planted. The food is amongst the best we tasted in Nicaragua and the waiting staff in the restaurant were also incredibly friendly and attentive.
Breakfast was amazing as all the food was. The common area of the pool and restaurant to hang out in was fantastic. Meet some great travellers. No Children until 15 allowed and we loved that. There is a a shuttle a few times a day into San Juan Del Sur that was handy for barring into twin. Great walking path down to the local and fantastic Playa Maderas.
Awesome Staff!! Oscar was the best guest experience Guy! We had great recommandations for activities and made our stay even better! Amazing yoga classes for free! Great food with good people at the kitchen very friendly staff! Volunteers were super Nice with us! Felt like home ! Definetly recommand this hôtel!
We had an amazing stay here. The bed is literally so comfortable - by far the best place we have stayed in during our travels through Nicaragua. Host was amazing - it is also very well located - close to the town to make it easy to get around, but extremely quiet at night.
Eden is a wonderful retreat center with amazing views over the San Juan del sur bay. The yoga shala is beautiful overlooking the water. The food was also nice and homemade and we were eating together with all the other guests fostering a sort of community.
you can’t beat the location and the spacious room right on the beach. so convenient to be able to get food and drink directly from the restaurant and eat on your own patio. beautiful views. wifi was also really stable so I could still do work.
The location is stunning and the service is the best! Amazing friendly and supportive in all our needs. The pool is a great addition to the beach next to it. A secret feature was the turtle rescue center right next to the hotel.
Good price for a bed&breakfast in san juan del sur. Came to stay here just for Sunday Funday and for that it's perfect. Very close to the first and final party so if that's your plan, i would definitely recommend this.
The hotel was across the street from the beach - with easy beach access - walking distance to everything from town. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean, modern, well maintained.
- Perfect location in the centre of San Juan Del Sur, close to restaurants, shops, beach and bus stop
- Friendly and welcoming staff, Javier was so helpful and made our stay great
- Clean and spacious room
TreeCasa is an outstanding hotel! Customer service, facility, amenities, restaurant, and drinks were AMAZING! The rooms are spacious and true to the eco-friendly and environmental model.
Excellent location in San Juan del Sur. Everything in walking distance; restaurants, cafes, bars and the beach. Hostel that provides rooms with a/c and private baths.
