Blue Mosque
Constructed between 1609 and 1616, the striking Sultan Ahmed Mosque – or ‘Blue Mosque’ – is still a place of worship today. With no war victories to fund it, this opulent structure had to be paid for straight from the treasury – angering the Ottoman legal scholars of the time! Non-Muslim visitors are encouraged to visit, but should be respectful of the strict dress code.

There are many many well dressed VERY friendly and helpful men willing to show you around, avoid them, do not talk to them! They are all trying to sell you something. They can get aggressive if you engage them and the try to leave, best to avoid them and keep walking.

As a Lego enthusiast, my visit to the Blue Mosque in...
As a Lego enthusiast, my visit to the Blue Mosque in Istanbul was an experience filled with admiration and inspiration. The architectural grandeur and intricate design of the mosque immediately sparked ideas of how such a masterpiece could be recreated in Lego form.
The Blue Mosque, with its cascading domes and six slender minarets, presents a fascinating challenge from a Lego-building perspective. The symmetry and balance in its design, a hallmark of Islamic architecture, would require careful planning and a keen eye for detail to replicate using Lego bricks. The mosque's exterior, characterized by its harmonious proportions and majestic curves, would be an exciting and rewarding project to undertake, demanding the use of various shapes and sizes of Lego pieces.
Inside, the mosque's vast interior, dominated by the large central dome, is adorned with thousands of blue Iznik tiles. Capturing the essence of this intricate tile work in Lego would be a remarkable feat. The play of light through the 260 stained glass windows, which adds a dynamic element to the mosque's interior, could be imaginatively recreated using translucent Lego pieces to simulate the effect of light filtering through.
Moreover, the challenge of recreating the spiritual and serene ambiance of the mosque in a Lego model is intriguing. While Lego is often seen as a playful medium, it also offers immense potential for creating models that evoke a sense of reverence and peace, much like the atmosphere inside the Blue Mosque.
In essence, the Blue Mosque, as a subject for a Lego model, offers a rich blend of architectural complexity, historical depth, and artistic beauty. It stands as a testament to the creative possibilities that Lego offers to builders who are passionate about capturing the essence of the world's architectural wonders in brick form.

Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. This is the first time I entered inside Blue Mosque. It was 28 July 2023, Friday, we went inside Blue mosque before Jummah Prayer. We performed Jummah prayer and felt very blessed.

Great from the outside but inside access was CLOSED for x months for some reason. Surely some small part could be left for visitors to see a little of the inside? Most only ever get one chance to see such places.

Top floor small apartment was perfect for seasoned independent travellers. Away from the tourist hassle, quiet street, 400 metres from Kumkapi Station, 200 metres from sea promenade, lots of supermarkets and cafes. Roof top terrace with its own kitchenette overlooking the sea. Small new hotel with seven apartments. We wandered up to Sultanahmet or along the sea promenade to Blue Mosque several times a day. Best accommodation so far in Istanbul.
The hotel is a beautiful historical building situated in a fantastic location for seeing all the sites. Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Cistern Bascilla were only a 5 minute walk, tram station was also only 5 minutes away. The room was very comfortable and the shower was modern. The staff were amazing! They really made this place a stand out from our trip touring Turkey. I will definitely be staying here again if I go back.
An excellent hotel located nearby to the main tourist sights (Hagia Sofia, the Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern) - took less than 10 minutes to walk! The hotel offers great rooms and facilities, including a gym and sauna. The staff at the hotel are super helpful and friendly - they are also more than happy to discuss recommendations on activities and where to go in the city! Overall, I would recommend this hotel and would gladly stay here again when visiting Istanbul!
The location of the hotel was amazing it was really close like 5-10 min walk to the main tourish attractions of istanbul (Hagia sofia, topkapi palace, basicila cistern , grand bazaar and blue mosque)
This my 3rd trip to Istanbul and Hotel Novano
The hotel is ideally situated in Sultan Achmet close to the Grand Bazaar Blue Mosque Topcapi Palace , Hagia Sophia and Eminonu. The management are all extremely helpful and the breakfast is outstanding with the menu so varied to suit most international visitors. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel provides tea and coffee after 3 pm with biscuits and cake for guests who may wish to sit on the terrace relaxing after a busy day of sightseeing
The hotel is in the heart of Istanbul, located only a 8min walk to historical sites such as The Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Basilica Cistern. It’s very charming and has a mix of Turkish classic design with a modern touch. It’s very clean and the staff are exceptional. They sorted the transport for us to and from the airport and helped with every request we had. The breakfast was varied and delicious! Thank you Ersari hotel for making this trip very special. We will definitely come back soon!
The apartment has a lot of room and is really nice. Every room has its own bathroom. The breakfast is fine. The location is great, really close to the Blue Mosque. We really liked the shower (rainshower). On the other side of the hotel there is a really nice restaurant of the same owner.
Excellent location in the heart of Istanbul's old center, right next to the Blue Mosque and Aya Sophia. Ideal for exploring the city's historic sites. The staff was very helpful and willing to solve any issues that arose, adding to the comfort of the stay. The room and hotel facilities were kept clean and tidy. The breakfast offered was good and provided a nice start to the day.
It is very near to Sultanamet Square where most of the tourist spots are located like Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, the Basilica Cistern, even the Grand Bazaar is quiet near.
There are also a lot of restaurants and establishments in the area. Public transport is very accesible. The hotel can also help you book tours and activities if you want to go to other places outside Istanbul.
