The bathroom in room 178. The two spotlights that were working were very low wattage. Add the fact another was not working, meant a very dark room. However, more importantly, the bathroom extractor fan was on constantly. Not such a problem at 4pm when distracted by general noise. But at 4am is sounded like a generator! And certainly disturbed our nights sleep. This could easily spoil someone's stay. But we didn't let it spoil ours as we only booked the one evening. If we were staying extra nights we certainly would have been forced to request maintenance take a look. Reception was busy on the Sunday and there only appeared to be junior staff on duty, so we didn't report the problem.

Setting was lovely. So unusual to witness ALL staff members being jolly, helpful and professional. Helped to set a very pleasant atmosphere. Well done. Value for money. Personally we felt you could easily add 25% possibly 50% to accommodation price's without a problem. An argument for ' selling yourselves short? '

Best rooms are in main building. The new build rooms are okay but lack the space and light you get in the Abbey rooms. There are a lot of artificial flower arrangements but as they are higher up they don’t appear to get dusted at all, would really make a difference cleaning these even once a year.

Great Location! Staff very pleasant and helpful. Worth doing the medieval banquet. And the punting on offer is brilliant!

I wasn't really there long enough to find anything I didn't like. The general feel of the place wasn't what I expected nor what I am used to.

Good location, beautiful scenery, and a quirky decour. The rooms were huge and having a decent sized bath for once in a hotel was also a welcome addition

Wi-Fi and phone signals poor in bedroom. We stayed in the Park Priory building which was modern and we were surprised by the poor signal

Comfy bed and good curtains that blocked out the light. Impressive looking hotel. Great room / decorations / furniture - it was a feature room which gave a sense of occasion.

There was very little information available in the room or the common areas about the history of Coombe Abbey. Also it is surprising that there are no spa facilities. The staff were friendly but we were overcharged on arrival and only discovered we had been charged an extra £80 for another dinner for two, when we check our bill. Also on leaving the bill was wrong as we had been charged for the dinner we had already paid for. That was refunded but once we got home we realised we had been charged twice for cheese at dinner - when we shared a plate. These mistakes took the edge off what was otherwise a pleasant stay.

The beautiful grounds and historical atmosphere

The room was abit dark I suppose due to the cuttains , very artic and colour. The bed was like very high at risk of falling off , I remember my husband choose to put bed next to wall incase he rolled over. Breakfast not much variaties

Bathroom was exellent and the water was warm enough. Lots of towels which were very useful for my bath. The history was very inspiring and it was good to learn how business grow with time.

Breakfast. Not good value for the price paid. Long queues and items missing. The À la cart menu was not of value and the portions small. The better food seem to be going out to the bar menu., The hotel can not just survive on the merits of the grounds and building and in time they soon be dated and lose its appeal. Guess require the full package with the full experience when staying in hotels . Maybe a leaf from Hambleton Hall could be taken.

A little disappointed with the service at an otherwise beautiful venue

The service wasn't as you might expect as they seemed to be short staffed and had 3 big events going on. The option to pay upfront for a dinner package was a bit of a swizz as there were lots of supplements to pay for different choices. I can understand for steak, but even some basic dishes had supplements and actually the quality wasn't all that. There really isn't any benefit to doing that I can see and they were cheeky enough to add a discretionary service charge to the bill before asking how the service was. The staff on reception even referred to it as 'the up sell' not the dinner package, so you can tell where the focus is and its not on the customer experience. We had to queue for breakfast 15mins too. If you have two weddings and a 60th party, you need more staff. We had also paid for another extra up front and it just didn't arrive.

The location and venue are beautiful, the roll top bath was a welcome treat.

Additional charge for parking when you're staying at the hotel. Someone had given our room number for bar service, but obviously hadn't signed for it - which meant that we had additional charges for things that we'd never had on departure. This was resolved by the manager. A previous version of myself would have just paid the bill to save the mither. Just a little annoying and awkward. The rooms were nice but it also never occurred to us that there would be a wedding party (obviously this is a prime wedding location) however we didn't expect DJ 1990s to be blaring until 12.30am. Feel that the hotel should pre warn people upon booking that this may be the case. Bar food - stopped serving at 6pm. We'd only just arrived at this time so had to venture out again for food, which led to an additional car parking charge.

We had a very lovely stay however I do have to mention the lobby/main level had a very strong perfume smell that Extremely bothered me. If anyone is sensitive to smell, I would quickly run up to my room, or scurry outside.

The grounds were lovely, room was comfortable and clean, breakfast was fantastic.
