Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaIt’s clearly stated so not a surprise but the stairs are steep.
Amazing location and great staff. Rooms spacious and comfortable.

United KingdomThere isn't a lift and when your on the upper floors and with the steepness of the stairs would have been nice if the staff offered to assist us getting up the stairs. I'm not complaining about there being no lift as the building is listed just lack of assistance. The rooms are looking very tired and need updating. Especially the furniture. Lights were very low voltage and so hard to see anything in the room. Some of the power points didn't work. Bits of plaster flaking off. Needs some TLC.
The building historic features were fabulous and the view from our room was superb! I would stay again just for the view. We were on the 2nd floor, room 207. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was brilliant!

United KingdomIt’s very dated. The furniture is old and the rooms need refurbishing. The bathroom is basic, but clean.
The hotel is based in one of the Dancing Houses. It is about a 15 min walk to the Centraal Station, 7 mins to Dam Square, 15 mins to Anne Frank’s House and 10 to the Rijksmuseum. It is surrounded by cafes and restaurants of every cuisine. The staff are very friendly and pleasant. The room was clean. I liked the very steep, winding, narrow stairs. The hotel has a lot of character and charm. But perhaps the stairs are not suitable for older people, children and those with mobility issues. The beds are extremely comfortable. We slept so well.

United States of AmericaThe room we were given was in the back and overlooked a restaurant where we heard bottles being thrown out, a few times. Interior of room seemed clean but the carpeting was old and run down. The stairs to our second floor room were very steep and uneven. It is a historic canal house so that is the reason why but it was pretty difficult to navigate them.
Great location near Rembrandts Square. On the Amstel canel. Staff was helpful. Able to store luggage after checkout until our train departure later that day.

United KingdomThe only thing to keep in mind is that the hotel is located in a traditional Dutch house, with stairs and no lift.
Convenient location, with metro and tram station (just a few stops from the Central Station). A good size room and bathroom, very clean throughout. A comfortable bed and coffee/tea in the room. Friendly and very helpful team at the front desk.

United States of AmericaOur room (non-canal view) was adjacent to an alley where the recycling and CO2 truck stopped early and often to service two nearby cafes. Let's just say the restaurants had a lot of glass to be recycled early every day! Otherwise, the room was quaint, comfortable, and clean!
This location was perfect for exploring all parts of Amsterdam. Close to Metro and trams, but also very convenient for walking to all the must see attractions.

GermanyOnly one room key and 150€ fine if lost, the stairs are crazy steep (they should put this in the main description and not elsewhere) so heavy luggage is a real challenge. But I assume most the old houses centrally located are like this.
Perfect location, friendly staff, secure, the breakfast place they cooperate with was great, had a fixed price for taxi to the airport which is very reasonable.

AustraliaStairs are steep if you have really heavy bags…. But that’s the price to pay to stay in a building that’s over 300 years old…. Which more than makes up for it.
Great location close enough to the action but quiet enough to sleep. Amazingly old building with heritage value. Staff were fantastic and looked after us well throughout the whole time.

United KingdomCheck in/check out process is quite lengthy, you're shown how to use the door system to get in out of hours which is fair. On check out, the receptionist went upstairs I assume to check the room before I left, which is understandable but no other hotel I've stayed in does this, they had my card details under guarantee after all. The receptionist is perfectly polite however! Listen, the stairs are very steep and narrow... This probably isn't somewhere I'd stay if I struggled to walk, Im quite fit but was out of breath at the top, but It is traditional, narrow and original, so I honestly treated it as part of the experience. .
Beautiful building, real traditional Amsterdam city house, beautiful top floor room with old beams and a great view of the canal from my room. Great shower and comfortable bed, minimal outside Noise because it is not a busy street. 10 minutes walk from the bustling nightlife of De Wallen. It was a great location, lovely, clean building and honestly a great value for money stay
