The location proximity to the museums and Vondel Park was wonderful! The room was exactly as pictured, very clean and comfortable beds/linens. They offered bike rental at the hotel which was quite convenient. Igor at the front desk was quite helpful and the young lady working in the breakfast area was diligent and pleasant.

The quality of the bikes didn’t warrant the price of rental…they could certainly use a tuneup! But they did have a good lock/chain system, so that was ideal for use in the city. There was no A/C although it was advertised to have this amenity. Nobody mentioned this at time of check-in. The manager Jay (sp?) at first said the problem just started but later retracted and said the issue started on Friday before we arrived. I would’ve appreciated the honesty when we checked in. But he did offer free breakfast for me and my work colleague. The school across the way holds their outdoor recess directly in front of the hotel so rooms facing the main entrance will get the brunt of the sounds. It wasn’t extremely early so didn’t bother us much, just be aware of this.

The central location walking distance to attractions and restaurants was very convenient, especially with children.

Our room was switched out for a semi-basement room on arrival with pedestrians walking by all day and night. This in itself was very disappointing, but it also involved unpleasant things such as not flushing toilet paper, but placing it in a bin beside the toilet (made more challenging with children). It was also dark and offered no view whatsoever. There was also no heat control for the very chilly room. The reply to every issue: "we are but a humble three-star hotel." But they have no problem charging five-star prices.

The lift was broke and the stairs were quite steep. Grateful for the staff who came to carry our suitcases. You have to arrange a time to meet with a staff member to be let in, you are renting a room in a house basically. The bathroom IS private but not in room. Location was confusing for Ubers to drop/pick up. This is a backpackers dream room with a kitchen and a view. Very walkable with out luggage . But not for people who have a hard time getting around or who don't travel light.

The breakfast location was way too far from the actual hotel rooms and you had to walk through the WTC to reach the breakfast room. Additionally, we had one of our party in a wheelchair and the one elevator was very difficult to find, and not well signed. There were no instructions on how to get to the breakfast area beyond the first hallway, after that we had to ask directions. There was little variety in the food offered and minimal vegetarian options. If I had known the quality of the breakfast, I would have opted out of it and gone to a nearby restaurant.
