Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe check-in process was difficult and the restaurant staff were too busy to assist properly. Note there's also no elevator to get to your room, making it difficult with suitcases.
The location was perfect, right near the shops and local eateries. Our room had a beautiful view, and the room felt very modern

United KingdomSeveral things. The check in was with staff in a restaurant next door. I was then taken through another restaurant/bar to get to the staircase to get to the hotel rooms. There was a staff member sitting at the reception desk inside but they didn’t do anything with check in. There’s a separate door to exit the hotel straight onto the street, but for whatever reason it can’t be used for entering the hotel. I think having digital keys via phone would be better and then people could use that door and not need to go through the restaurant/bar. I stayed on a Saturday and Sunday night. Even though the room description specifically says ‘soundproofing’ the rooms are not at all soundproof. The bar downstairs turns into a nightclub on Saturday and even with very good earplugs in I could still hear the bass until probably 2am. The bass also vibrated up through the wall and into the bedhead so I slept up the other end of the bed to be away from the vibration. The reception person also had loud conversations several times between 11am and 1am with people coming into their rooms and I could hear it word for word in my room because the door wasn’t soundproof. Additionally the right window in my room didn’t seal/close properly so more noise came in than should have. The lighting was very dull - I could barely see in the bathroom mirror to do anything and had to use my phone camera and sit by the window to do my makes up to get some decent light, impossible to do make up in the bathroom. It was also very dark to shower even with all the room lights on, and the shower itself took a while to work out how to use. It’s weird having the glass shower wall as the wall between the bedroom and bathroom. I stayed alone so it was fine for me, but if I had been staying with someone else I would’ve chosen to stay somewhere else. An example of form over function I think.
Easy enough to get to from the trajn station, probably a 10 minute walk. Room was recently renovated and overall was comfortable

PhilippinesNo fridge, no teaspoons or small plates. The lack of a big wardrobe was a bit of an issue for us too. One of the buttons on the spa was not working either.
The Spa and the amount of space we had in the room. Extra chairs for lounging were good too.

United KingdomThe property has changed slightly, it’s quite difficult to figure out where you should be going to check in. The self check in didn’t work, then you’re lugging your luggage round the restaurants to figure out who can help you.
We have stayed here before so knew it was a property we’d still like.

United KingdomUpon arriving at Manzos we discovered there was a patch of mould behind the curtain in our room, didn’t cause any bother but thought it should be pointed out. The people staying above us were so so noisy and with the flooring being made of wood it made the noise worse. On our departure day my partner and I were walked in on by the cleaners whilst we were sleeping and not suitably clothed, this immediately woke us up and we felt uncomfortable. No apology was made my cleaner or any other staff on our departure.
The room was very spacious, and the bed exceptionally comfortable. The staff were excellent and we had drinks in our room and were given 2 free cocktails with our stay which were delicious. Area was lovely with lots of shops and food nearby.

United KingdomPoor lighting inside the room, lights not very bright, which gives it a nice ambiance but difficult to apply make up or shave for men. The property is located above several bars which are open until 2am during the week and about 4am on weekends, so if you are up early to do sight seeing etc then I wouldn’t recommend this place as you won’t sleep well.
Much cheaper alternative than staying in Amsterdam, Zaandam is quite a nice town and only 2 stops on the train from central Amsterdam. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was very nice. Hotel is next to some nice cafes and restaurants and a nice shopping centre.

United KingdomWe didn't see one member of staff the whole time we were there, except when we checked in and we had to go through the restaurant and get the key from someone there. Our toilet was blocked and there was no one around to ask. When checking out there was no way to leave our luggage, although we were told we could. It said to leave it in the luggage storage, but we weren't told where that was? And had no idea how we'd get out luggage back with no staff there? Messaged them on booking.com and shock no reply!! We were so thankful that the hotel next door allowed us to store our luggage there. The actual stay itself was nice and this is honestly the only reason as to why we have given it a lower score.
The room was gorgeous. Comfortable bed, large shower (although it was slightly confusing on how to control the heat). The bath tub was a lovely added extra. We slept well the whole time we were there and it was nowhere near as noisy as people made out... either people are really light sleepers, or we were just lucky?
