Located in the historical Shibu Onsen district, 渋温泉小石屋旅館 offers both private and dormitory-style guest rooms as well as an on-site restaurant where local dishes, wines and craft beers are available. Cozy place right in the middle of the Yamanouchi onsen route. One onsen is literally paces away. Exceptional staff who went above and beyond (shoutout to Karinn in particular). Everyone I talked to spoke decent to good english. Good food and decent toilet facilities. I booked a cheap dorm bunk and was afraid it would be 15 snoring men in a barracks, but it was in fact a cozy three-bed room with privacy curtains on the beds. You get everything you need for the nine onsen route for free, except the cloth to stamp at every onsen, which is ¥400.

Hotel Fuki no Mori ligger 20 minuters resa från tågstationen JR Nagiso med hotellets kostnadsfria pendelservice. Du kan njuta av promenader i trädgården eller i de vackra områdena runt hotellet. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful with a mix of interesting and tasty food. It looked beautiful too. The onsen was amazing with wonderful facilities. We particularly enjoyed the outside onsen in the early morning. We paid for an evening meal( there was nowhere else to go anyway) and it was wonderful. Such interesting and beautifully presented food. Our waiter explained what everything was.

A 7-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Yorozuya features hot spring baths, a hot tub and Japanese-style rooms with a private terrace and private bathroom. Everything was great, the service was very delicate, it made us feel very comfortable. This was a fabulous experience.

Oshi Ryokan ligger bara 5 minuters promenad från den historiska helgedomen Togakushi. Här erbjuds traditionellt boende i det fridfulla bergsområdet, som används för pilgrimer. Wonderful traditional ryokan owned by the Oshi family for 200 years. I stayed in a spacious tatami room on the ground floor with beautiful views of the garden. Very peaceful to sit and stare outside. Delicious breakfast and dinner add on options and a very friendly host who made me feel like I was in a second home. Will definitely be returning again. The ryokan is conveniently located steps from the bus stop and takes about 1 hr on a direct bus from Nagano station. It's 3 mins walk from the steps of the first of five shrines (lower shrine) of Togakuji so I highly recommend completing the Togakuji "pilgrimage" trail to see all of them. Beautiful 300+ yr old cedar trees line the paths. Togakuji is the birthplace of soba noodles and beside Chusa Otorii (middle shrine) is the #1 soba noodles restaurant, Uzuraya. There are long wait times at the restaurant so I put my name down at Uzuraya on my way up on the hike and it was ready by the time I returned to dine right away. It was around a 3 hr roundtrip hike from the ryokan or 4-5 hrs with breaks and lunch. Great way to explore the area.

Yudanaka Onsen Yamazakiya ligger bara 10 minuters bilresa från Snow Monkey Park och erbjuder enkelt boende i japansk stil med gratis Wi-Fi. Akira and Yumi were exceptional hosts, super friendly and polite. The ryokan was even more beautiful than in the pictures. The private onsen was wonderful and we were able to go there whenever we wanted. The breakfast and dinner were delicious. Akira and Yumi were also able to cater for my multiple allergies which amazed me. Our room had a beautiful view overlooking the river. The sound of the white water was relaxing.

A 3-minute walk from Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort, Kadowakikan features ski-to-door access, a hot spring bath and free WiFi. I enjoyed everything about this stay. The room was very cozy, and their was an onsen inside the guest house as well. The main thing I wanna point out is the service - Kadowaki-san was such a fantastic host, helping with gear rental, recommendations, and general inquiries. It was very nice to talk to as well and very efficient with Google Translator :D. I was in Japan for 2 weeks, and this was by ease the best place I stayed at. Will definitely be back to this place and highly recommend it.

Tawaraya ligger 5 minuters promenad från tågstationen Yudanaka och erbjuder japanskt boende med gratis WiFi och platt-TV. Fantastisk service, från början till slut. Det regnade kraftigt när vi skulle resa iväg med vi fick skjuts till tågstationen.
