One of the nicest places we stayed in on our trip. We didn't have much contact with the host, but he seemed very welcoming. The surrounding areas were beautiful, would be an ideal place to stay in the summer as well as it is a horse farm and I think they organise horseback tours. The cabin exceeded our expectations.

Wonderful museum in town ( fun for kids - has virtual reality experience) More museoms in surrounding area. Many more areas to explore and activities to partake in. Excellent tourist information staff in Varmahid.
Lovely farm stay, beautiful views in every direction of water and mountains. Great hosts, lovely animals, and excellent kitchen, utensils and washing machine. Lovely spacious living area with beautiful views.
This small town is a good base for exploring the area, including horse riding at Icelandic Horse Tours in Helluland and a trip to Drangey Island with Drangey Tours. There is a nice exhibit on the Icelandic Civil War (ca 1230) and Iceland's oldest bakery. A short walk up to the cemetery provides a nice view.
My stay at the guesthouse was a bit of a mixed bag. On the positive side, the self-check-in process was a breeze, and I was pleasantly surprised by the level of cleanliness and the spaciousness of my room. The facilities, including the WiFi and kitchen, were top-notch, and I had no complaints on that front. However, there were a few quirks that left me feeling a bit unsure. The surrounding farm was somewhat peculiar, but I must admit that I'm not exactly an expert on farming, and I didn't book this place for its agricultural charm. The absence of any human interaction with the host was a tad disconcerting. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, and a friendly welcome or some local insights would have been appreciated. One noteworthy detail was the water quality, which had a distinct sulfur smell. While this might be normal for the area, it would have been helpful if the host had mentioned it beforehand. In summary, the guesthouse had fantastic facilities, but the lack of host interaction and the peculiar farm surroundings left me with mixed feelings. Plus, a heads-up about the unique water scent would have been a considerate touch. However, all in all, good to very good value for the money.
