Ian was so welcoming to his lovely property that was a lush and well tended garden with a variety of beautiful plants and trees located with a nice lake view. He also cares for a goat, Philomena, and other birds and small animals. The upstairs apartment where we stayed was comfortable, spacious, well stocked. Some wonderful little extras, fresh flowers sprinkled throughout, wine and a large sitting porch with great breezes to view toucans and other cool birds! We so enjoyed Ian’s tour around his property and learned so much. Definitely a highlight of our 3 week trip.

It was so peaceful and relaxing, and I felt comfortable and safe. Beautiful view of Lake Arenal and a lovely breeze, temperature was comfortable compared to other areas in the country, for end of March. No a/c, but with the breeze, it was not needed.

Gorgeous setting and great amenities. We loved how we could sit outside our apartment and feel like we were experiencing the rainforest. The staff was very accommodating to some issues we had. The restaurant is so nice to have at all hours on the premises, with a lovely view. Just take note of the no air conditioning. It got cooler than coastal areas of Costa Rica but not cool!

The story of the owners is amazing. You can feel the passion which they put in creating the Nepenthe. The view from the apartment and from the pool is amazing. From there we visit La fortuna, Hot springs and Arenal 1968. It is very peaceful place to stay.

The friendliness and helpless of the staff were faultless. They were all so lovely ! The apartment was spectacular, with beautiful colours and artwork. The food in the restaurant was the best in the area. The pool was just perfect 🥰 I've only mentioned the things I didn't like as I was asked to. Really nothing to complain about :-)

The location above the lake with views changing with the time of the day. Only a few separate studios with terraces facing the laguna. Large wall-to-wall and flloor-to-ceiling windows. Stunning modern design. All of this set on a maticuosly kept property and interestingly modelled terrain, with lawns greener than the English lawn. The welcome from the owner Ana was more than warm! Her breakfasts and dinners super delicious, served on a roofed terrase with THE view. Our thanks go also to Ana’s staff, nice willing ladies. Thanks a lot!

Fabulous condo, bigger than expected with wonderful views, a huge balcony and everything you need, including nearby parking. When we couldn't figure out how to work the washing machine, Carla came straight round to help. And there's a jacuzzi bath in the generously big bathroom which also has incredible views. If the location is right for you we would highly recommended it.
