The Swiss village of Wengen, offering first-row views of the Jungfrau and the Lauterbrunnen valley, is a little Alpine paradise. I know: my family owns an apartment there, and we've been regular visitors in winter and summer since 1976. Hotel Berghaus is one of Wengen's pearls, and it has always been one of our favourite places for dining out. The restaurant specialises in dishes based on superbly cooked local fresh water fish like pike and Egli (perch). This summer, our apartment was full, so for the first time I booked a room in the hotel. That didn't disappoint either. The fittings and furniture don't seem to have changed since the 1970's, but the owners and managers, the Fontana family, have kept everything in immaculate condition, and my room offered everything I needed, and more: a little balcony where I could sit and read outside. The service is warm, friendly and personal, and you can have your breakfast and other meals on the front terrace, with a breathtaking view of Wengen and the surrounding mountains (see the picture). Cheap it is not; everything Swiss is very expensive these days, alas. But comparatively speaking, Hotel Berghaus offers excellent value for money. No wonder so many of its guests have been coming there for years.

מקום מדהים מאוד נותן הרגשה לחיים השויצים המקורותים. הכפר וינגן קטן ונמצא מעל לאוטברונן מקום בית המלון מדהים בין הרי האלפים. יש מים חמים, מיטה נוחה מאוד והייה שמיכה חמה, נותנים כרטיס הנחות לאטריקציות בכפר ובמרכז הכפר יש רכבל חדש העלה לנקודת צפית מדהימה. מציעים ארוחת בוקר ב12 פרנק.

Perfect location considering that we traveled using public transportation. The breakfast was excellent with many options for cheese and cold cuts. Dinner menu was also excellent. Great staff working here! Timea and Iulia are very friendly and helpful. Thank you.

very well located and comfortable. lovely B&B in a lovely place. The host was very helpful and accommodating. The home made breakfast it’s definitely a plus, the shower was awesome too. nothing negative to say. I recommend this place and hope we can back soon.

Great location close to train station for a quick departure to the Winteregg chairlift in the morning and a short scenic walk from town. the family room was excellent for a family of 4., well designed with an upstairs mezzanine for the kids beds. Very comfortable beds and cosy room. Great restaurant too, we loved the pizza and fondue. Good breakfast. Very helpful staff. Would go back in a heartbeat.

The hotel service is good, and it is kept clean and comfortable. We booked a balcony room, it has a good view, and the double room is a little smaller, but also good. The location of the hotel is also good, and It's next to the cable car station. Unfortunately, since we went to the Jungfrau, we were not able to have dinner in the hotel. Next time I go to Murren,I will book the hotel again.
