Amazing place and amazing owners!! You can hear the waves while you sleep. Located right in the middle of Mompiche. The owner was extremely accommodating, helpful and made you feel very welcome. He helped me with everything from surfboard rental to bus schedules to and from Mompiche. Only place I’ve been to in Ecuador with a mosquito net around the bed which I appreciate. Can’t beat the price and I’ll definitely be staying here again when I come back to surf the point 🤙

I went for 3 nights, stayed for 2 weeks! What a perfect place to relax recharge during your trip. Double beds, sheet changes, free breakfast all within metres of the beach. The outdoor kitchen keeps cool when its hot, the room has fans but always has a breeze and the beds are comfortable. Perfect for a low-key beach hostel.

We stayed at Raices Mompiche three nights in the end of December. The room was big and there would have been space for two more people. The outdoor area of the hostel was lovely decorated and the kitchen was well equipped. We liked a lot that the hostel had some environmentally friendly rules for instance avoid using plastics or at least to separate waste. It was nice that breakfast was offered.

I was very happy with my stay here; set in a private garden with hammocks and outside kitchen, this room was clean, safe and quiet and just steps from the heart of the village and the sea. There's a friendly member of staff onsite too if you have any issues or questions. Most of the budget rentals in Mompiche are constructed from bamboo but Ocean Surf is solidly constructed, so this is definitely the best choice if you are a light sleeper; you won't be kept awake by the music, dogs and cockerels! I have already made plans to return.

Shared bathrooms are located on the ground floor whereas bedrooms/tents are on the first floor where there is a great spacious area to relax on hammocks/bean bags. Showers are covered outside and have hot water and the kitchen is well equipped. There isn't loads to do in Mompiche but we loved the quiet fishing vibe and to have some time to relax. Martin the owner is friendly and relaxed and has two adorable dogs!

The WIFI was excellent and there was always a nice breeze; there’s an amazing covered deck with the best of vibes where everyone hangs out on hammocks; and the owner; Martin is the chilliest host ever; the place feels like being part of a family the moment you put down your bags. Oh and there’s the sweetest of dogs and the beautiful puppies to play with; I miss them terribly!
