Our hosts Mr. Taguchi and Ms. Taguchi were very kind and gave us many information before our stay and also during our stay. They even drove us to the shop to buy a bus ticket. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The location is very quiet and beautiful. The bath is very very nice, a combination of modern shower and traditional bathrooms. The breakfast at Taguchi San residence was incredibly delicious. We will definitely come back here one day.

Satomi-san is the best woman! She was so nice and friendly with everybody, she creates special atmosphere of this place. She made me onigiri for hiking, but they were so big, that I finished just one. I’m so sorry…😬 When I have just arrived to Tomarigi, I was a bit sad and tired, but in the end of my stay it was like to live in a family. Can’t wait to come back and see Satomi-san again 🙃

Wonderful location, gorgeous place to stay with a homely and friendly atmosphere. Lovely breakfast with fresh fruit, warm baked bread and fresh eggs from the chickens. Miki also organised bento for our long hike and helped with restaurant recommendations and bookings. We loved it here.

we had a great time and loved the guest house. the room was beautiful and spacious. our hosts were very nice and helped us with everything - even picking us up from a bus station and driving us to the nearest supermarket and ATM as we couldn't rent a car. if you don't have a car you will rely on irregular bus schedules - but that would be true for the whole island. there is a bus stop a couple of minutes away from the guest house - easy to get to. you can have dinner and breakfast for a good price and it was delicious. We would recommend it to everyone!

Everything! Mr. Taketo and Mrs. Tomoko were incredible hosts! One thing you will remember forever is the FOOD!!! Tomoko san cooks everything and it is a true masterpiece! Yuki and Toru’s hospitality was exceptional. Their accommodation all crafted from local wood, is immaculately clean. Our room was very comfortable. There was a lovely dining room which we sat and worked in before dinner. We stayed in early April and it was pleasantly cool so we didn’t have to use the air conditioning. We were fortunate enough to sample a selection of three different offerings for dinner each evening. This is where the essence of Yuki’s and Toru’s hospitality and generosity was evident. The meals were of exceptional quality, prepared with care, be it the cooked elements by Yuki or the fish caught by Tori. Don’t miss out - treat yourselves and take your evening meals there. During our evening chats with Yuki we learnt more about their commitment to nature, organic farming and love for Yakushima. After making our booking, Yuki guided us seamlessly through the somewhat complicated processes of getting to and from the island by booking our ferry crossings and by reserving our car rental. The accommodation is strategically well positioned for the start of the hike to Jomon Sugi (early start essential) and others, several scenic waterfalls, the Hirauchi Kaichi and Yudomari Onsens on the sea (less than 5 minutes away), as well as the splendidly scenic and interesting UNESCO World Heritage Listed Coastal Road where you can see monkeys and deer in abundance in their natural habitat - the beautiful reality of the landscape of Miyazaki’s “Princess Mononoke.”
