One of the nicest hotels I have stayed in 45 years of travel. Artistic and funky but also warm, friendly and totally unpretentious. The hotel is an old style property, airy and light with big windows and views to the Pico volcano. It is like a gem of an oasis amidst more recent development on the edge of town, but is only ten mins walk down to the big square and port. Breakfast in the spacious dining room is exceptional and the ladies who run the hotel are charming and helpful. We had the extra benefit and unexpected bonus of the Suite, which was like having your own flat with a terrace! There are some trendy restaurant options down the hill with good food - but rather pricey wine, but we found a couple of traditional older places (Medalhas & Lima) that we liked. For whale-watching, Naturalist are a good science-based outfit and if you are short of time or transport they do an excellent half day island tour too - very informative and not touristy. You can do both in one day!

We loved our stay here. The hosts were super nice and helpful. There was a delicious breakfast in the mornings with homemade items such as yogurt, jams and cake to go along with the other breakfast items. Coffee and cake were available throughout the day. There was labeled spaces in the fridge to leave your items and then kitchen had all of the cooking items you would need. The rooms were nice with a little balcony and great view of Mount Pico. Great location on the island.

The room was serviced every day and fresh towels provided. The place is spacious and has a private parking which was great. Sarah is a super great host and helped us with everything. Check in was really easy. The place was clean and light up. Just next to the beach of Pim. The place is modern and refurbished. We also had some coffee pods there which was great and washing machine pods as well which was handy. Good location, very close to the ferry and a little away from the city center so it was quiet at night, but still possible to walk to the city center/Marina in 20 minutes. The host was very nice and helpful and very Quick to answer when We had a question. The washing machine and outdoor drying area was really nice. Helped us travel light :-)
