Incredible location on top of the mountain. Nothing but nature. We had a cabin completely off the remaining part of the lodge. We spent the evening on the balcony - just listening the sounds of nature and watching the animals/birds around us. There was NOTHING around us other than woods and animals. Unbelievable experience. Also the hosts Mia and Ranzel were SO SWEET. They equipped us with vegetables from their garden and lights for the night and they were so incredibly friendly. Kitchen was greatly equipped so we could cook a nice meal in the evening. Breakfast was equally amazing with fresh eggs from the ranch and plenty of fresh fruits etc. We deeply regretted that we didn’t stay longer. Highly recommended.

Offering an outdoor pool, a garden and free WiFi in all areas, Finca Queveri is located 20 minutes' drive from Orosí, surrounded it by the National Park Tapanti. Personal, quiet, very authentic place off the beaten track on the countryside in the middle of nature, with excellent home cooked meals, a very kind and attentive host who is a local and has many good stories to tell. The food served is creative, experimental and also feels like a home cooked meal from grandmother. The views off the finca into the valley are amazing. There are also hiking trails. We saw coatis and hummingbirds and other birds such as oropendolas. Best to have a 4WD. Costa Ricans also spend their holidays here.

Situated in Turrialba, 35 km from Ujarras Ruins, AQUIARES COFFEE FARM CASA HACIENDA LA ESPERANZA offers accommodation with a hot tub and a public bath. It is an incredible experience to stay in the coffee farm. The house is quite old, but very nice and well maintained. The garden is expectacular and you can see a lot of birds and active volcano! The real surprise here was all the staff. We had never experienced so much care. Just before arrival we both got sick and they were really taking care of us, not only preparing special food and teas, but also adjusting the trips.

Located in Cartago and only 11 km from Jardin Botanico Lankester, Dreams Lodge Orosi provides accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. We booked this lodge for the last 4 nights of our stay in Costarica, only as a place to sleep- as we planned to spend whole days out on excursions. We were actually sorry that we could not spend more time in the lodge itself. It has some lovely outdoor space where you can sit and relax. It also has a common kitchen which is very well equipped, so you can cook your meals there if you wish. There is also a swimming pool, but we did not use it as the weather was quite cold. Room was super clean and comfortable. We loved the local cat which was very friendly and liked to spend her time in the lodge :-) What makes absolute highlight of this lodge, is Ms. Jessica, who provided excellent service to us during our entire stay. She was always so nice and did lot more for us, than she had to! She also speaks very good English so we had no problems with communication. First morning, we ate breakfast in the lodge - the local Gallo Pinto. It was the best breakfast we had in the entire Costarica! Big portion and perfectly cooked and flavoured. You will love it! And the breakfast outdoor seating is very nice. For the rest of our mornings, we were actually leaving very early (around 5 am), and Jessica was so nice that she always prepared for us breakfast and left it in the fridge). If you have rented car, you can park it in front. You can also arrive by public bus (like we did), it is only around 5-10 minutes walk from the bus station. Just be careful, there is no signage with the hotel name, from the street it lookes like someone’s house. If you are at the entrance to the cemetery, you are already too far :-) search for black metal staircase - that is your place.

The staff were amazing, friendly, and helpful. There was good birding right in the backyard and the pool was a great addition. Highly recommend this place.
