(For the record I speak a little of jaoanese) I had to stop one night here because Nagano was too far from Nagiso. But in the end I am glad I did. Sakashita is NOT a tourist town, there are no konbini, and likely there wont be a lot of english around. However, what lacks in english makes up in friendly rural Japan vibes <3 Had to do laundry and get dinner and Ashi-san helped me through both of those matters. I had some beer and okonomiyaki in a local restaurant where evdrbody was having a great time watching a baseball match, had a great meal and chatted up with the super friendly locals. The traditional garden was amazing to put some shakuhachi vibes in the background and let yourself drift in time.

Keiko is an excellent cook, turning out elaborate and delicious meals. The location was a great base for the hike from Magome to Tsumago.

Guesthouse Nedoko har ett perfekt läge i området Magome i Nakatsugawa, 21 km från Ōi, 21 km från Amritsar busstation och 42 km från GIS KHSP kongresscenter. The location couldn't be better. The hotel is small, stylish ,clean and it feels homey. Our room was simple, yet spacious & comfy with a view over the mountains. The shared showers & toilets were very clean.

Reopened after renovation in 2022, Auberge Hidanomori is situated in quiet hills, a 10-minute shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station. Exceptional in every way - a calm oasis on the outskirts of Takayama in the midst of the forest. Run by a lovely family who are kind and helpful, and incredible chefs cooking innovative cuisine at the highest level (make sure you have dinner and the wine pairing at the hotel). We travel a lot and this is one of the most special places we’ve stayed at.

Guest House Tomaru ligger bara 2 minuters promenad från tågstationen JR Takayama och Takayama Nohis busstation. Här erbjuds boende i en renoverad, 80 år gammal japansk stil. Although I havent stayed here for a whole day and just spent a few hours it was very relaxing and peaceful stay.The host and their family were very kind and helpful in providing all the information on sightseeing and giving the right guidance and checking in on me.It is so close to the station that is best part of the stay and very affordable highly recommend for solo travelers.
