Located near the egde of Lake Wanaka, Mt Gold Glamping is set on a private farm. There are 2 private campsites with tents on offer, which are accessible by foot. Free private parking is available on site.

Everything. It's isolated which is so nice, it felt like we were alone in the forest. We had everything we needed for cooking (other than food, which we brought) and cleaning up and keeping warm. Even though it was somewhat cloudy, we saw so many stars at night and it was amazing. Be careful to bring your trash inside because we heard a bunch of bumping around and night and when we shined the flashlight, there was a possum rummaging around in the kitchen! Thankfully we didn't have anything left outside, so it wasn't a big deal. Overall this was such a great experience, maybe my favorite in our south island trip.

Looking for a luxury tent?

For travellers who love being in nature with an added sense of luxury. Also called glamping, tented camps provide full or limited services, while surrounded by the wilderness. Typically in permanent or semi-permanent camps, these private tents/yurts are a great way to rough it while staying glamorous.

Almost the size of a small house, with laundry facilities and a great kitchen. Basic but spacious, two minutes' walk from town and with an awesome view of the lake from the veranda. We requested ground floor and got it. Lovely fruit trees and hydrangeas outside.

The scenery from this property is incredible. It’s on this cute farm with the mountains in the distance. Great to watch the sunset. The hut itself was very rustic and cosy, with a small kitchen and equipped bathroom. The grounds on the farm also had outdoor seating, swings and a trampoline! The welcoming from the dog was an added bonus.

The property new and clean . Comfortable bed , roomy apartment. A very good washing machine. Not enough crockery and cutlery for 2 people for multi day stay, eg only 2 mugs , 1 desert spoon ( although 3 soup spoons. )

Everything! Really nice atmosphere, very friendly staff, 2 resident cats! Very eco-friendly food waste handling as it goes to the pet pigs! 🐷 Sensible system for food storage in kitchen. Rooms were nice, and the bathrooms were modern and clean. Lots of outdoor seating and hammocks to enjoy. ☀️ The hostel has its own vegetable garden! 🌱 As per the name, fantastic view of the mountains, very pretty sunsets!

Mt Barker was our favourite place to stay during our trip around the South Island. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. The area is serene and quiet, and the scenery is stunning. The property is close to town, and the National Transport and Toy Museum is just a couple of minutes drive away. The bungalow is large, comfortable and well-equipped – with new and modern interiors – the perfect place to relax. We really enjoyed watching the sunset through the large glass doors and windows.
