This is really neat boutique accommodation, think safari tent in a beautiful native forest surrounded by bird life. Lots of amenities in your tent and your own outdoor kitchen and barbecue, and a great indoor - outdoor bath tub for a soak at night. And the night sky is amazing.

I travel alot for work and have spent many a night in wonderful hotels around the world. I have never stayed in accommodation which makes you feel more comfortable and at home than this place thanks to its lovely lay out and even lovelier hosts.

Very comfortable room with a lovely balcony and a gorgeous view. The common room, with its beautiful furnishings, useful information and wrap-around verandah, was spectacular. Breakfast with that view was a delight. Jeannette was lovely, a real pleasure to sit and talk with. Having retired from her nursing work now, after 27 years running The Lodge, she is looking forward to a well-deserved rest, and has decided to put the place on the market, hopefully to be sold to someone who will continue the tradition as a going concern.

The most beautiful views and very friendly host. I stayed in the single hut, it was so cute. It was well equipped- extra blankets, towels, mini kettle, plates and cutlery. Lovely outdoor kitchen, perfect for watching sunset. And the front of the property has the best view of rise.

Spacious room, adequate cooking facilities, comfy bed, good shower, very clean. Great view from the veranda - so long as you as stood up - sit down and the railing block the view. Parking right in front of the apartment, steep, short hill to access the parking lot, then a blind turn left in to the lot if you have a low car - SUV and you are fine.

Awesome location right near the beach. Good facilities which allowed for self-catering. Some lovely beaches nearby. We got up really early one morning and drove to Cape Reinga in time for sunset which was beautiful. Easy check-in & check-out.

It’s been a while since I had been to the Duke and he is beautiful.Full of memories and great art. We had dinner on the veranda as the sunset and a guitar played. Doesn’t get much better than that. The staff were pleased to see us and very professional
