Looking for a capsule hotel?

Developed in Japan, these cheap 'pod' hotels are a novelty for any traveller. With rows of small single bed enclosed capsules, accommodation is basic and intended to be overnight. There is separate storage for luggage and gender-separate communal bathrooms — some capsule hotels also have a sentō, a Japanese bath house, often for male guests only.

The location is fabulous, and hotel mostly has some affordable room options, this was terrific for a budget friendly easter vacation. I enjoyed a comfy large bed, writing desk, toiletries provided along with kettle and milk. I was blessed that there were 2 back-to-back movies that night. The room was a good size, and I enjoyed the view and the ability to hear the big ben clock chiming from 7am onwards. I appreciated having parking on site. The staff are always pleasant and helpful.

The pods were pretty cool and it was a fun novel experience. The location was just great. It's in the heart of the city which makes it incredibly easy to get places on foot. The adjacent Japanese restaurant is so convenient too. The privacy of the pods was quite nice and the price was affordable.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Pod Inn as a clean, friendly budget option in Launceston. The staff were very accomodating and the bed in the actual pod was surprisingly roomy and comfortable. Each pod was assigned two large lockers which fit both myself and my partner’s backpacks and large suitcases. Shared bathrooms were clean and well maintained.

Conveniently located on the edge of town within easy walking distance of shops. Car parks were very close (though not free). Pods were clean and comfortable (Basically a bunk bed with a plastic shell providing privacy, security and personal utilities - lights, power, radio etc). They are not sound proof so you still have the same noise issues you have in a hostel dorm. Kitchen, Toilet, Shower facilities and Wifi here were all excellent. Each guest also has a small secure locker.

Good location ideal for the back packer. Clean and friendly atmosphere. Shared bathrooms very clean and modern. First time I have used a "pod" accommodation and found it very convenient for the location. Value for money. Wonderful spacious kitchenette area and plenty of storage for personal food stuff. Must be marked with your name.
