Really enjoyed doing the Gordon River Heritage Cruise, it was informative and so much wonderful things you wouldn't get to see if you didn't do it. The Captain and staff were lovely and it was a really relaxing day. Highly recommend visiting the Huon Pine Historic Mill and shops as well. The town itself is very small and seems to be run mostly by a few families. So not a lot of restaurant or cafe options. I found the Strahan Village buffet restaurant 42 Degrees that was touted as the gourmet option in town as very average for the price.

Strahan is worth visiting for the Gordon River Cruise and the play, The Ship That Never Was. There is a small nature walk to a small waterfall that is an easy walk. There is a small beach just outside of town as well. Dining options are limited, suggest View 42 buffet, reservations required.

Strahan was a quaint little town with not an awful lot to see and do, but what there is, is worth the visit. We had only the one full day in Strahan - for the river cruise (stayed in town for 2 nights): if we had the time again, we’d allow a second day for local sight-seeing and the train ride. We were exceptionally fortunate with the weather, making the day cruise truly memorable, including some absolutely beautiful scenery and a fascinating tour of the convict settlement on Sarah Island.
Unfortunately, the seafood buffet at ‘View 42 Degrees’ was fully booked out, so we’d advise phoning ahead for that!
We weren’t entirely sure if we’d visit Strahan as part of our Tasmania trip as it was a little ‘out of our way’: we are now glad that we made the effort!

We loved everything we did in Strahan - from staying in the King Suite in the Wilderness Lodge, to the World Heritage Cruise on the Gordon River, The Ship That Never Was play, Hogarth Falls and sunsets over the water on Beach Rd.
The locals were fanatastic too - do yourself a favour and go there !

p it is one of those amazing experiences you never regret there is alot to do in this tiny town don't rush around Tassie you will miss too much ps Don't stay Big 4 and book all tours early Go to the Wall at Derwent Bridge to see a true artist we were with a wheelchair and everyone was great except Big 4
We self catered, large kitchen area, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, two hot plate electric cooktop. Saucepans, electric frypan, stovetop frypan, kitchen ware. Supplied sauces, cooking oil, butter, jams and honey.
Beautiful large cabin, large comfy bed, modern, clean all round.
Large comfy lounge, tv etc
Hosts were very helpful. We walked short distance to Strahan village, jetty area to catch the cruise boats.
Great location, near the waterfall, peaceful foreshore walk to Strahan village, very close to Risby Cove Restaurant which was ideal for breakfast and dinner. Facilities were fine. We had no need for a kitchen and kitchenette was sufficient. Communication was excellent. We booked the larger accommodation and were pleased with our choice. There are stairs but that was not an issue for us. Highly recommend.
Location was amazing and easy to find. So close to the beach. Collect keys from Motel Strahan - so easy. Comfortable beds. I travelled with a couple and having 2 bathrooms was a welcomed bonus. Small Hand sanitizer bottles in all rooms was a lovely touch. Close to take away shops and also to the main street. Absolutely loved our time there and will certainly come back!
Very spacious room with veranda and covered car port.
Very nice hostess and host. Great restaurant over the road with great sunset. We really appreciate the owners doing everything to promote not just their property, but the local businesses and Tasmania. Well done to them!
Would book again in a heartbeat.
Spacious, warm, well equipped for self catering, comfortable and Vicky was a superb host both friendly, helpful and informative. Quick response to any question. Location was quiet and had a lovely view across the harbour.
We would definitely return if re-visiting Strahan
The bungalow was in a good location and Strahan is a beautiful village. We went on the wilderness cruise and it was a wonderful experience. Go with the red boat. Such a wonderful crew and the scenery was awesome. The play the Ship That Never Was is excellent.
A very well appointed unit that was clean, fresh, and seemed recently renovated. The location was an easy walk away from all the facilities we required in Strahan. In particular, the supermarket was around the corner.
Lovely self contained apartment, super clean, all essentials provided. Welcoming, cheerful hosts, very convenient for Strahan and surrounding area. Would totally recommend.
The boutique style and the history of the hotel, excellent customer service and close to the waterfront and People's Park. The complimentary continental breakfast is awesome!
Location is very pleasant. View to the harbour, great! Room was comfy & clean. Breakast provisions were very good. Would definitley stay there again if visiting Strahan.
