Villa Maria Tayrona, Jungle and Sea Experience, hotel in Los Naranjos

Offering a beach area, outdoor pool, and restaurant, Villa Maria Tayrona, Jungle and Sea Experience is located in Los cocos, 1.2 mi from Piedras River.

This place is wonderful, it is a hidden jewel in Santa Marta, Tayrona area. We reserved the deluxe bungalow #17 which has an amazing view of the ocean and you feel you are at the trees canopy. The units have AC that run super and a beautiful bed with mosquito net that takes you back to the early 1900 hundreds. You find hot and cold water for showers. Staff is amazing , Cristiano the Manager along with their wonderful staff including but not limited to Camilo, Juan, Bryan, cesar, Vanessa, josee, Ricardo, Jorge, Edison make sure that we were pampered. The pool area is awesome secluded with hammocks, the dining area is so romantic and all constructed using bamboo material very original. The bar and restaurant are part of the original house which I was told it is 200 years old with 2 foot thick walls. Food , snacks, cocktails, and beverages are fantastic, OMG natural fresh home made fruit juices !! The beach is five minutes walking and the way to the ocean is trough the hotel itself , with a beautiful trail full of flowers and fruit trees !!! Lila the macaw, it is beauty and she repeats numerous words in Spanish like Hola and whistles. This is nature at its best and with all the conforts. Come and stay here you will not have regrets. Ohh I almost forgot lila the Macaw she is a blast! Cheers YR & JP

Hotel Casa Barlovento, hotel in Los Naranjos

Offering an outdoor swimming pool and a restaurant, the beach-front Hotel Casa Barlovento is located 19 mi from Santa Marta and 1.6 mi from Parque Tayrona. Breakfast is included.

We loved Casa Barlovento! The views are incredible, the layout of the hotel allows for a lot of privacy. The pool is fantastic and the access to private beach down below is really incredible. It’s a wonderful location to spend the day relaxing. The rooms were clean, the staff were very friendly. The food was delicious and we had all that we needed. There are comments about “slow service” but when we asked to eat at a certain time, they were glad to accommodate. Just need to plan ahead, as they do not have 24/7 kitchen.

This hostel was amazing. Friendly staff. Beautiful open air private room. A little tough to adjust to sleeping in the open so keep that in mind when booking. Family dinners were amazing. Pool sunsets with happy hour was so fun. Good music playing, not too loud. Perfect place to stay. Mini mart right next door. 20 min walk to Tayrona National park entrance.

Proximity to Tayrona really good - El Zaino entrance and walks. Other destinations a longer taxi ride (such as Minca) but all manageable. Property itself is lovely. Immaculate, spacious and a very good food offering. Delightful service. Nice pool and lots of space around to take in diffract views. Only negative is the weak shower pressure (cabana 1). Easy drop down to beach and sea - and very atmospheric bar for sundowners. Pretty much perfect

Liked: Came here in October 2021 and returned mainly because the place is absolutely beautiful. The view is stunning, you're in the middle of nature and wherever you look there are amazing birds or giant trees. Disliked: During our five day stay, the water was cut three times and electricity went out twice (this didn't happen last year). Also, almost every night a noisy water leakage would start under the cabin and the last night there was a hydraulic motor-bomb malfunction nearby, very noisy as well. Every time I called the administration and they responded in good will, sometimes being able to help and sometimes not. But these issues are clearly the result of long-term poor management, and there is only so much the on-site staff can do. Also, the hotel sells the idea of being able to offer good wi-fi: nothing could be further from the truth. Wi-fi is extremely unstable. You can go hours, even days without connection. So this is not a good place to go if you require a stable internet signal. I went with the idea of working remotely and had a negative experience in that department. This said, it wasn't a horrible couple of days, but I'll be looking elsewhere for my next trip.

Los naranjos is a huge place where the jungle merge with the beach, divided by a river that can be crossed wslking when the tide is low, aligators are the puppies of the area and althought they look dangerous they only like to take a sunbath, they are afraid of humans, but dont test this, keep away from them and enjoy, the beach have different walking access, explore them all.

    This was a mixed bag.

This was a mixed bag. On the upside, the restaurant was really fantastic and the view from the deck chairs, overlooking the beach, was just stunning. The room was clean and the restaurant staff were friendly. That said, the photographs of the rooms are misleading, as the rooms are actually really really dark, with just a few dim lamps providing a little bit of light. The “sea view” from the room that is pictured in the snaps is also not really anything. You can barely see the water. When we told the front desk staff that this was not what they were advertising, they said they would "be back to discuss" and then never showed up. Since it was only one night, we decided to just stick it out. Also, at this price, it seems like the hotel could have hot water in the showers. Oh, and our room was next to the kitchen so we were woken up early with noise from the staff, blender, etc.

We loved Casa Bambu - it's one of our favourites as we travelled around Colombia. The intimacy of this small hotel is magical and so peaceful. The restaurant staff are professional and their ease of being with smiles a plenty, adds to the relaxation of being here. The pool was very welcome after hiking Tyrona as well as just to be around while reading a book. A local beach, with a bar serving good cocktails, is a short walk away. A great spot to see the sunset between river and sea and the crocodiles that live there.

We had two rooms, a villa and a room in the main hotel. The main room was just as big and nice as the villa. The view from the property was beautiful. Watching the surfers was enjoyable. The surf is too rough to swim, but we did wade a a little. There is a bar very close for evening drinks and sunsets. There was a spa close where we had massages which were wonderful. The staff was lovely, helpful, arranged transfers for us to Parque Tayrona and back to Cartagena.

The people were incredibly friendly and helpful. The single beds were very comfortable. The food was very good and was priced very economically. They accept credit cards. Also, you can simply charge your meals to your room, and pay when you check out of hotel. The called a taxi for us when we left. Lady called a pharmacy to deliver antibiotics when I caught a stomach bug in previous town and was not improving. The employees are amazing.
