I spent 8 nights here with my family. It was a wonderful stay. It's close to all the best restaurants in Tamarindo, and also 2 blocks from the beach. The breakfast that was provided each morning was wonderful and they even made meals for my two kids and my wife who is vegan. The staff is wonderful. Also, if you're staying on Saturday, there is a farmer's market next door in the morning that has a lot of great local vendors. The hotel also helped arrange us a transfer from the Liberia Airport (thanks Karol!), and also helped arrange a tour.

Very nice small town feel. Really enjoyed the restaurants.
Very nice small town feel. Really enjoyed the restaurants. It was very hot in early April when we visited. End of the dry season so but lush at all. Everything is within walking distance. Go check out the zoo there. If you can get a car go visit Lola's which is a 40 min drive away. No one there on that beach.
Massages on the beach are inexpensive and worth it. Renting beach loungers are cheap with unbrella. Some restaurants on the beach have them too. Lots of restaurants along the beach.

Great small surf town, with everything you need within short walking distance. Variety of cuisine with Happy Hour offers (take them as food is pricey here). We mostly ate at "Soda" restaurant (any spot with Soda means it's local food). Fire throwers perform nightly around center of the beach. Tip them, it is amazing what they can do. River Boat tour showed us mangrove vegetation, crocodiles and iguanas. Blue Dolphin sunset sailing was super fun, check the wind report before booking. Horseback riding available at the beach, I'd recommend morning time when tide is low. Sand is pack then and beach is wide for them to walk on. Sun is sneaky here and you can burn easily, so be careful.

I love love love Tamarindo!
I love love love Tamarindo! I've actually been looking non-stop at properties to see if there is a place I'd like to live. It's unlikely that I will move there permanently, but I'd love to have a little place to be able to visit once in awhile!

We were disappoined in Tamarindo ~ it felt like a tourist...
We were disappoined in Tamarindo ~ it felt like a tourist trap with all the sidewalk tour booths. We went snorkeling with one of the booths by the beach which was definitely NOT worth it as there was absoluately nothing to see. We discovered Native Way & booked a tour to the Estuary which was excellent compared to another guest who booked from the booths by the beaches. I also heard many of them are scams as they want a deposit which will be the last you'll hear ofthem. We would recommend Native Way if you want to book any tours. We were disappointed becaue Tarmarindo was more expensive than we expected. There were only a few "shops" that were not filled with "souvenirs" that were probably not even made there. Go to the Night Market on Thursday or Farmer's Market on Saturday for unique gifts made by local artisans. Food at Restaurants were good but not the prices. We recommend Tabu & Pico Bistro. Pangas is over rated... food was so so but atmosopshere was out of this world.
Diria was absolutely amazing. Our travel plans got a bit messed up (our airlines fault) and we were only able to stay here one night. We then went to Occidental Tamarindo for two nights and the experience was not nearly as nice. Occidental was all inclusive, so a bit more expensive, but Diria was soooo much nicer. The staff was incredible, the facilities were beautiful, the beach was impeccable and the location is literally unbeatable.
My partner and I will definitely be returning and will only stay at the Diria Hotel.
Everything was perfect! This was the best hotel we stayed in during our 2 week stay in Costa Rica. The rooms are super comfortable with all necessary amenities (AC, hairdryer, soap, shampoo etc). Breakfast is included and is totally delicious. The pool is lovely- we also had a massage which was great. Johanna is a wonderful host- so friendly and helpful. 10/10 I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
LOCATION!!! What a gorgeous setting. Looking right out our floor to high ceiling windows, across the beach to the ocean. Right in the heart of Tamarindo, but so quiet and serene. Great parking secure and close. Very friendly greeting from a super attentive staff. In 20 years of travels, this hotel stands out above the countless others I’ve stayed at.
This is a very nice place. Rooms are nice, pool is great, staff are very nice. The only issue I had was value for money. I know my bookings were during high season, but still even for Costa Rica, the price was a bit much. We would stay here again, but would make sure the booking was made in advance or during a discounted period.
It is right on the beach and is away from the crowds in Tamarindo. This area of the beach is excellent for beginning surfers and bogie boarders. Hotel has both. Only a short walk to restaurants, a grocery store. Each room has a kitchenette with a Fridge, 2 burner cooktop and a microwave, toaster and blender.
The staff was incredibly friendly and the beds were the most comfortable we have "ever" had in Costa Rica. We live here and travel the country regularly. Most mattresses are hard or somewhat comfortable, In the Shade went above and beyond when selecting their accommodations for their customers.
The main street of Tamarindo can be very busy, hot and dusty. Hotel Luna Llena is a cool and quiet little oasis tucked away with an easy walk to the beach. Great A/C, lovely pool, tasty breakfast, friendly staff, huge bathroom. We only stayed one night, but I would have happily stay more.
Great apartment with a huge bathroom- the best one I have had in Costa Rica! Also great shower with nice water pressure. The breakfast was also wonderful as well as the service and staff. I liked how the hotel is close to the center of town but it is not too close and therefore not noisy.
I liked that we didn't have to do anything. Everything was organized and well set up. Food and drink was constantly available. The resort was well maintained, both inside and outside. For those who want a beach experience, this is the best beach location in Tamarindo, Costa Rica.
Our stay was more than fantastic! The owner and staff are more than welcome, very helpful and accommodative ! Clean , quiet, relaxing - definitely what we needed for our vacation!
We’ll definitely book here again at Tamarindo bay boutique hotel for our next trip cos it’s 100/10!
A lovely, intimate, hotel set a little away from the hustle and bustle of Tamarindo. Although only 5 min walk from restaurants. Owner and staff were really helpful. Room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Outdoor shower was a great feature, as was the swinging chair.
The staff was super nice and helpful, the hotel grounds are super well maintained and the hotel as well. We we supplied with beach chairs and beach towels, and even got umbrellas when it started raining. The breakfast was also great and huge. Best location in tamarindo.
it was an oasis near the very busy town of Tamarindo. the room was lovely and the pool a refreshing place after a hot day. Bruno was great at giving ideas for exploring and we found some wonderful quiet beaches north. it’s a lovely family run boutique hotel
We had a very nice room right beside the pool. There was a lounge area near the pool as well. The breakfast was different every morning and always delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend the hotel if you want go to Tamarindo.
The hotel is nice and cosy, a little apart but only 5 minutes walk from everything. The little house is private with all you need to relax, cook and sleep in one of the best bed I had in Costa Rica
The staff is super generous with their time and helpful
The location was perfectly located right on the beach and by the Main Street of restaurants and bars. We stayed in bungalow 10 and it was so comfortable for our group of 4! This hotel made a lasting memory on our trip to Tamarindo!
Nicely located in walking distance to Tamarindo beach and close to Restaurants, supermarket etc., good communication with owner/ hotel staff, clean apartment and nice pool to relax.
Beautiful room. Liked how private and safe it felt. Owner is extremely nice and helpful. Definitely would stay here again if we went back to Costa Rica.
Breakfast was great, we really enjoyed this quiet hotel with places to lounge around the pool and take a break from the busy beach/streets of Tamarindo.
