Domaine de Saulon, hotel in Saulon-la-Rue

This Château is located in Saulon-La-Rue, in the Côte-d'Or countryside. The rooms are located in 3 differents building : Le Pavillon, Le Château and La Longère.

I made 2 requests for an accessible room because of a disability that were ignored. We were given the furthest room from the reception on the third floor. I booked a table in the restaurant online . The request wasn’t relayed to the restaurant. The service in the restaurant was poor.

We did not stay at this hotel as when we arrived the receptionist told us that we could not set foot in the hotel or use its facilities for 3 hours so could sit in the car park or go to a restaurant for lunch 8km away. They had a wedding which was not mentioned when booking! As we were driving up through France we decided to keep driving rather than sit in a car park for 3 hours.

    Lovely converted Chateaux.

Lovely converted Chateaux. We tend to book at short notice and this was our third stay. The superior annex room with terrace was fabulous though it had no bath and a soak after a long drive would have been perfect. Restaurant also serves excellent food with a good (as you would expect) wine list. A treat.

Arrived at the hotel to be told there was no food/ chefs available all day, they had given the kitchen staff the day off because they had a wedding the day before, the receptionist wasn’t in the least interested in us even stating we couldn’t leave our bags In reception for a room to be ready Or even check us in,we decided not to stay and ask them to cancel the booking which they point blankly refused even though as they said the booking hadn’t come through from booking

Awesome building, nice and quiet, very nicely maintained grass and park around the castle. Bonus for us: the restaurant of the hotel turned out to be very nice. Good food and great atmosphere. The restaurant is in another building but part of the castle on the other side of the parking lot. The hotel had 2 slots for charging e-car. Very nice to spend time at the pool reading books, dip now and then and enjoy the quietness and all the green around

We thought location setting was beautiful ,exactly what we thought a chateaux should be.The staff were very friendly nothing was to much. The food in the restaurant was great, the breakfast was of a good choice in a nice relaxing area, the rooms were perfect, we stayed there because it was a dog friendly hotel, and nothing was to much trouble with a 7 mth old puppy, i dont know what more we could say, it was excellent

The hotel is perfect for visitors with dogs, as it has a rather wild park and wast fields around it for walking the dog. The place is beautiful and a pleasant place to stay for humans, as well, with some nice touches :-) We particularly enjoyed the hair and body gel that is made with Chardonnay Polyphenols :-)

The hotel is perfectly positioned for a long drive south from the Channel. It was an ideal place to stop with a dog, as there was good walking nearby. This is probably a little unfair on the hotel, as it would also be be good for longer stays as a base for visiting Burgundy. Excellent food.

The Hotel, rooms and parking are all good, and we would score the hotel high on this though a soft bed and limited amenities at this price let the room down........but
