We had one of the smaller rooms but it did not lack in comfort - the bed was huge and super comfy, the shower was great too. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful and our dog 🐶 was made to feel very welcome. In our room there was a bowl of biscuits for him, a towel, poo bags and plastic mat for his bowl. Our dog's cage was placed under the room window, and the three of us had a comfy night with the windows open listening to the birds in the nearby trees. Dinner was good and very busy (always book a table), a bowl of water for our pooch and, lovely cocktails 🍸on the menu - a nice treat to have one! Breakfast was superb, a great range to choose from, and again, served by friendly, helpful staff. Excellent walks locally, particularly right opposite along the Dee, and further up the road to an open park. The Boat Inn excels in location, breakfast and staff - they're the best. This is a perfect example of a dog friendly destination 🐾🙌🐶🙌🐾

The bed in room 5 was terrible. I’d like to advise the owner to sleep in there for a night. He will then go and get a new mattress or bed I would think. The rest of the place was delightful- however our sleep was terrible.

Aboyne is a delightful large village set amongst beautiful scenery. It seems to have a real community feel about it and the public spaces are clean and well cared for. We preferred it to the very touristy Ballater down the road and would stay here again.

We didn't stop in the town of Aboyne itself, but if (or rather, when!) we go back, we will do so, as it looked very pleasant as we drove through. The scenery in the area is beautiful, and we enjoyed our drives around the area. There are plenty of placed of interest to visit and a super-abundance of castles. We greatly enjoyed our day at Castle Fraser.

Beautiful place with great access to river and woodland walks. Quaint feel.
A few solid local establishments to eat and drink, including the Boat Inn which has a great atmosphere and food/bar.
A little scarce on eateries open later, particularly on weeknights. Most places closed by 8pm, although would highly recommend Nurtaj, the local Indian restaurant! Beautiful inside, lovely staff, amazing food.
Aboyne was also a good base for accessing other places, with excellent road links out towards Inverness, Aberdeen, the Moray coast, and more.
Not touristy in the best way.
Beautiful place.

Lovely little town to visit, very quiet and peaceful with interesting buildings. Highly recommended if you're visiting the Cairngorms, Aberdeen or anywhere nearby. The Boat Inn is an amazing place to stay as well as for a meal or drinks with lovely indoor and outdoor spaces. Nice little play park for kids and fields for dogs to run around in too.
I don’t often write reviews, however we found Lys-Na-Greene so exceptional that it wouldn’t be right not to write one in this instance. Extremely comfortable, spacious, and well furnished en-suite bedroom and common area, and excellent hospitality including breakfast provided by owners Joyce and Garry. Beautiful setting and grounds. While more expensive than what we typically pay for B&B type accommodation, it was well worth the difference. We hope to return.
Really enjoyed our stay at the Lodge! Owners were very welcoming and gave suggestions on local things to do. The scenary is beautiful and the location was great for visiting Ballater, Balmoral, Crathes Castle, etc. We had breakfast and dinner at the Lodge and both were wonderful. Loved exploring the region and this was a great base to do that from. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
This is a lovely spacious property in a great location with all the facilities needed for an enjoyable break with a medium sized party. Our dog was accommodated with no fuss and a small extra charge. Easy walk to all Aboyne facilities and good location to explore Deeside. Large combined lounge and dining area with wood burning stove great for winter evenings. Lovely large modern kitchen.
the facility was obviously modernized well but held the charm of an older establishment very well. the rooms were very well decorated food and meal service was really great. It was hot while we were there so no AC was noticeable but we did not have AC anywhere in our visit to Scotland so I can hardly fault them there. This was easily our favorite property of the trip!
Birchwood view is situated in the countryside and is absolutely stunning, immaculately presented with everything you need for a pleasant stay. The boat inn, Aboyne centre is a must visit pub the food is amazing. If you want a countryside get away then this is the place for you.
Amazing Bed and Breakfast ran by the loveliest people. This place is exactly what you would imagine when thinking of a luxury B&B at a Scottish countryside. Room 3 is an absolute gem. Food is delicious. View is breathtaking. You will be in paradise. We will be back.
Joyce and Garry are wonderful hosts. We felt at home in their lovely B&B and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Their excellent knowledge of the surrounding area including hikes was great! Breakfast is a great treat to start the day.
We had a lovely stay at the elegant Struan Hall. The owner was an amazing host and everything was perfect from the moment we arrived to the moment we unfortunately had to leave. Couldn't recommend it more highly.
It was all just perfect from the accommodation to where it was. Lovely accommodation with everything you could need, very comfortable and cosy. And Aboyne was beautiful, with plenty of places nearby to explore.
Gorgeous, elegantly decorated, and in a wonderful location on the Dee River. There are lot’s of things to see and do in this part of Scotland.
Thank you Joyce & Garry.
The location is absolutely outstanding if you want a break from the world. Close to both Aboyne and Ballater we thought this was an ideal location for our stay.
