Bakewell and the Peak District has been our family’s Happy Place for 15 years! Just love the whole area. Busy village, with plenty of shops and places to eat, a lot selling local produce. A busy market every Monday. As an active family enjoying the outdoors, it is an excellent base to explore the surroundings. Lots of opportunities to walk, hike and cycle. Plenty of historic properties in the area, including the wonderful Chatsworth hall and gardens. Great places to eat, with one of the best Indian restaurants. An amazing part of the country!

There’s a little area for souvenir shopping and buying the famous pies and puddings and several outdoor clothing shops. There’s a co-op and a spar. A few pubs and 2 fish n chip shops. Not much to do in the evening.
Good base for buses to Chatsworth, Matlock, Derby, Sheffield.
Walking distance or short drive to start of the Monsal

Bakewell is a very friendly town in the Peak District.
Bakewell is a very friendly town in the Peak District. It is picturesque with lovely walks beside the river which is close to the town centre. Plenty of small independent shops along with other retail outlets. Loads of cafes and the deli was superb.
As central as you can stay in bakewell, very spacious but cosy bedroom, lots of fully opening sash windows and decent air conditioning so the room could be nice and cool on the warm night that we stayed. Room was very clean, spotless carpet, furniture and bathroom. Communal areas were clean and well presented. The whole hotel smelt clean and luxurious. Wanted to stay here for a while now and it didn’t disappoint, great visit when combined with a visit to chatsworth house.
So convenient for the centre of Bakewell, walking distance for evening food or a drink, and surrounding areas for visiting beautiful Derbyshire. The Barn was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. Superb beds and bedding. Even a bottle of wine and milk in the fridge! We have a lwb renault camper van and despite the parking being snug there was enough room for us to reverse in and park next to the property.
An old coaching inn on the A6 in Bakewell. It has only 2 rooms at present, but the new owners are hoping to increase this shortly. In spite of being on a busy road it was extremely quiet and we were not aware of any traffic. It is well located and within easy walking distance of the town centre and the river. The owners and staff were very welcoming and the food in the evening and the breakfasts were very good.
Had a lovely couple of nights at the Haven. Jeremy was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were lovely, clean & comfortable, a fab breakfast plus off street parking and the measures in place for the current COVID restrictions worked really well. The hotel is a few minutes walk into the town either via the road or across the park and along the river. I will definitely be staying here the next time I visit Bakewell.
Beautiful cottage, luxuriously decorated but felt very homely. Everything that you could possibly need was provided, together with a lovely welcome pack. Lots of space inside for 4 people and very comfy beds. Cottage is very well situated for exploring the area - 5 mins in the car from Bakewell, 30mins from Matlock, 15mins from Eyam. Would definitely return and will recommend to others - 5* accommodation.
Comfortable hotel in the centre of Bakewell. Cosy comfortable room in the converted stables. Lovely dining room with good choice at breakfast. Great staff in the restaurant and a special thank you to Harmony on reception for calling me to let me know that I had left some stuff in the room.
We really enjoyed our stay. The barn conversion was well set up and it was lovely to have the shared garden as well during the heatwave. We also used the table tennis table in the games room. Views were stunning and the location is perfect for exploring Bakewell, Chatsworth and environs.
What an amazing place. All the bedrooms are like a luxury hotel rooms. Beautiful apartment, with all the best facilities, parking outside, a short walk to the centre of Bakewell. Garden is lovely over the river, with lots of restaurants really close by.
Gorgeous historical hotel right in the town center. Rooms were beautifully decorated and the entire hotel was beautiful. I felt like I had gone back in time. Staff were extremely helpful when we arrived late and needed help parking. Dinner was wonderful!
Fantastic hotel, staff were lovely and very helpful, great location, only a minute away from the town centre. Breakfast was great, lovely cooked breakfast and a good selection of fruits and cereal. Will definitely stay again and would highly recommend.
Beautiful traditional terraced cottage located on the edge of Bakewell., in a quite location and backing onto open fields; yet only a short 10min walk away from all the bustle of the town centre.
Wonderful hosts.
it was near enough in the middle of Bakewell making it easy to get down to the town centre and have a walk around. plenty of things to do around that weren’t too far by car
The reception and assistance by manager and assistant manager was excellent
Breakfast served on cold plates which meant the food was not at its best temperature
