The hospitality of the staff was tremendous, walking distance to the centre of Ripon and also the bus station where they have a free shuttle bus to Ripon races. The Room and bathroom were spacious and quiet. The breakfast was very nice, with a choice of cereal and orange juice before your full English breakfast. I really enjoyed the sausages.

The workhouse, victorian prison and the courthouse were fascinating. Also a beautiful Cathedral, lovely river walks parks. Excellent bus service to Harrogate and surrounding areas, all for £2.00 or bus pass. Nice places to eat and a very pretty little city. Would recommend as once there you don't need a car unless you want to explore further.

Ripon Cathedral was holding a Spring Fayre fundraiser - lots of stalls and a choir festival! There is a Museum walking Trail
There are independent places to eat and one of the larger chains in the market square which suited us!
Unfortunately the Spa Swimming Baths is closed - would've loved to see inside!

Ripon has 3 small museums which are well worth a visit. Try to catch the horn blower who sets the watch every night at 9pm. A pleasant town to walk around and of course the cathedral is a must, including the saxon undercroft.

Ripon had so much more to offer than expected.
Ripon had so much more to offer than expected. Everyone was so friendly, it has a Cathedral, three museums, a beautiful square, market day is on a Thursday. Just 5 minutes drive away is Studley Deer Park and Fountains Abbey, it had a racecourse, beautiful canal and riverside walks , at 9pm a must is a visit to the square to see the Ripon horn-blower blow the horn at the obelise and give a brief history of the Cities traditions.
We stayed at the Blackamoor with its own restaurant, and had a light lunch at Tates Garden Centre , both exceptional.
This was a great find, it exceeded our expectations and we stay at many 4 star hotels and this was comparable & probably better than most. The food was superb, a lovely Italian twist on breakfast and the staff were excellent and went to every trouble to make the stay so very good. The rooms were awesome and fitted out everywhere to a very high quality - we would highly recommend it to everyone wanting to stay in or near Ripon
Very handy location in nice neighbourhood. You can see the Cathedral from the back bedroom window. Also hearing the cathedral bells in the evening and morning. Walking distance to Ripon, shops etc. Great river walks also from house. Warm and comfortable home. Fully equipped kitchen, good shower for hot water and pressure. Pleasantly surprised by large bedrooms and storage for a 2 bed house.
A great location for exploring Yorkshire Dales and surrounding areas. Ripon itself is lovely. A very quiet residential area. We could park next to the house. The house itself is very spacious and kitchen is very well equipped. We also enjoyed a great selection of DVDs and books.
A very useful welcome folder with great tips on what to see and where to eat.
Situated in a the lovely village of Sawley , next to the village green and opposite the pub. Very comfortable cottage with all the mod cons ! Dog friendly .Down the road from an ice cream shop and easy drive to Brimham rocks, Fountains Abbey, Masham and Ripon. Owner was easy to contact with questions relating to new heating system.
It was off the main road into Ripon, so not one that you could walk. It said on the website, '2 minutes' from Ripon and it was, but by car. I had misread it and thought we were staying in Ripon and could walk around the town.
The food was delicious and Seamus tried hard to be helpful and was very friendly and informative.
Mallard Grange was the perfect getaway for a long weekend. Quiet location, across the road from Fountain Abbey, and a few minutes from Ripon.
Our host, Maggie, provided a relaxed atmosphere and invaluable local knowledge for places to visit, eat, and do.
Breakfast was exceptional, made to order.
We will be back.
This pub / hotel is in the heart of Ripon, couldn't be in a better position and easy to find. The staff are very accommodating and friendly. The room and ensuite were larger than most hotel rooms. The decor was old fashioned but absolutely fine. Breakfast was huge and tasty. They even cooked a sausage for the dog.
Beautiful, tranquil setting in the English countryside. Neil is so accommodating and will help you with anything you need during your stay. The room was decorated beautifully, and the breakfast was exceptional. North Stainly is only 10 minutes from Ripon town so you’re close to shops, pharmacies etc if needed.
The location of the hotel was perfect, right in the market square. The room was nice and big and the bed comfortable with nice plump pillows. There was a bath sheet and a hand towel each and they were lovely and soft. The complimentary tea bags, coffee, sugar, water and biscuits were a nice touch.
The location is excellent. Value for money. The bar prices were very reasonable and Wetherspoons food menu is very comprehensive. The unloading area outside of the hotel was good as parking in Ripon market place is difficult. 24 hour parking is available a short walk away. £2.50 for 24 hours.
Perfect place for a visit to Ripon City. 10 min walk to centre with parking. Clear communication with the owner, text sent to my phone before we arrived with details of access and parking.
Very, very comfortable bed and lovely buffet breakfast left for us.
This was a perfect location for us visiting friends in the area. It was also very handy for the local pub less than 5 minutes away. Lovely rural location with easy access to Ripon and beyond.
Large, clean room.
Friendly pub atmosphere.
Great breakfast.
Had a meal here one night and it was also very good.
Friendly, helpful staff.
In centre of Ripon with free secure hotel car park.
Staff were very good, friendly and helpful. Hotel put on a coach to the races for a reasonable cost saved trying to get taxi’s. Food was very good as well.
