Both breakfast and dinner were absolutely fantastic. The master chef, Mr, Ito was exceptional. I have traveled several countries with well-known gastronomy including France one month ago and Italy 2 weeks ago. Food at Chalet Ivy was by far the best. It should be on the Michelin star restaurant list.

We have been visiting Hokkaido late March and the stay was wonderful. The staff was very nice and most of them had a very good level in English, we have a very fond memory of the people here !
The traditional Japanese breakfast was absolutely amazing and is a must to try ! The rooms and bathrooms are gorgeous, perfectly encompassing Japanese beauty and sobriety, the private outside bath could easily fit 3 people and it was a bliss in the middle of the snowy landscape ! Please note that tattoes are not allowed in the public bath even when covered.
We recommend 100% ! Thanks again to the staff for everything !

My experience staying at the Grand Blissen Hotel Jozankei was outstanding! The staff were very professional, attentive, polite and friendly! We felt very well looked after throughout our stay here. We only knew very super basic Japanese phrases, but the staff were very accommodating, and did their utmost best to communicate with us (with a mix of English, basic Japanese words/phrases, and using a translator app where necessary). We felt very welcomed, happy and at ease.
For meals, I was the only Vegetarian within my travelling group, and I had notified the hotel via email prior to our visit. Our group was very pleased with the Dinner and Breakfast! My Vegetarian meal was very well thought out, and it was very delicious! My meal did not feel lacking when compared to the standard menu, and I was very happy with it.
Both the Public and the Private in-room Onsen facilities were marvellous! Both had an extraordinary view into the valley, the river, and the snowy mountain across the hotel. We even saw a few deer roaming about! The Public Onsen was very clean, and well supplied with amenities. We felt very relaxed and comfortable in the waters! When we were in Tokyo earlier, our skin were drying up from the water and the harsh body & hand wash (my eczema was flaring up). Our stay at this hotel rejuvenated our skin, and left us feeling silky smooth! Also, my words cannot fully describe how wonderful it felt to see the snow drifting gently towards us, to meet the steam that rose from the pools we sat in, all whilst we enjoyed the view of nature!
Overall, I only have high praises for the Grand Blissen Hotel Jozankei, and I definitely recommend them!
Offering an outdoor pool and hot spring baths, Hotel Shikanoyu is nestled among the rich nature in Jozankei.

Even though a tad expansive, the staff was just marvellous to provide the best (I guess you’re paying for that)
Yukatas are available for the guests, so cool for foreigners to wear them
The onsen is great also
Lastly we got a wonderful gift to our kids before leaving which made the experience even more wonderful

Great location, good access to local ski resorts. The room was plenty spacious with a large private bathroom (shower and bathtub). Was able to park underneath with direct access to the room. Convenience stores opposite the hotel. Very welcoming host.

It's a great place with many greeneries and picturesque scenery. I came in August, which is summer, and after experiencing it in summer, I feel like want to stay again in fall! It's easy to reach there, there is a bus once every day, but you have to reserve it first. And it's free! I eat breakfast and dinner by Jozankei Hotel, and it was also a great experience! There were also mini-festival that we come to love and Jozankei Night Luminaire, which is awesome for photo hunting!

A beautiful hotel.
A beautiful hotel. Thoughtful amenities are placed throughout the facility which help you slow down and relax! I was surprisingly pleased with a lack of “hustle & bustle” feel of a typical Onsen resort. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The onsen's great and especially rotenburo (the outside bath)! It was snowing and the view was breath-taking.
Great place to relax and slow down a bit~
Also it was a bit challenging to find baths that I wanted to go to. The place is like a maze 😅 But it was nice to have a map, which is provided after check-in
Japanese are weak on vegetarian/vegan offerings but this hotels provided a great vegan Kaiseki on two evenings for me and even a veg kids version for our two little ones on request! Really enjoyed the baths and the view. Highly recommendable!
Their attention to detail is outstanding. Dinner & breakfast were amazing. The rooms were wonderful. Loved the view of the river. The private bath w the dome was wonderful. Loved our stay. Would love to come back again.
Love the open air onsen in the room, amount of toiletries provided. The hotel even provided facial masks for guests. Hotel set breakfast quality is great. Japanese style dinner offered 10 dishes, so much food!
Good and relaxing Onsen facilities. Free dessert wine and morning sake in the lobby during our stay was a warm touch especially in the winter. Very friendly and helpful staff.
the hotel employs a relatively young crew members comparing to the other chain enterprises of similar kind, this ingest a vibrant spirit within the environment
private onsen in the room, best taste and fresh seafood, great staff, good lactation, best facilities especially shampoo made my hair more volume, love it
