Couldn't have asked for a better location in Kamakura! The hotel is a two minute walk from the Kamakura JR station and the Enoden station, and just outside of the the 2nd torii gate leading up to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu (one of the most beautiful temples we've visited!). One block away from the hotel and just outside the JR station is the shopping street Komachi-Dori, full of fun shops and food vendors. The hotel is very modern, sleek, and clean. We had a room on the top floor with a fantastic view of Kamakura and the torii gate. We enjoyed the many amenities in our room and how quiet it was. The layout of the room was also quite nice. We would definitely stay at the Hotel Metropolitan again if we have the privilege of returning to Kamakura.

The room was very spacious and had an excellent view of the coastline and Mt. Fuji. Also they have a shuttle bus that takes you to the local train station for easy access to Kamakura and Enoshima. The breakfasts room had a wonderful view of the shoreline area.

Hasadera temple is a must see, especially during spring or autumn. In addition we visited Enoshima at dusk. Per end of november they have the whole garden and tower covered with small lights. When the weather allows you can see Mt Fuji in sunset. A hidden gem is Zeniarai Benten shrine. It is a natural spring tucked away between jagged rocks in a little valley. Legend goes that if you wash your money in the spring, it will multiply.

One should check one's room at check-in. Ours was definitely under-equipped: no chairs, no reading light, no handle in bathtub, very limited storage space for clothes, dangerous change in floor level. Otherwise, a very attractive hotel: nice patio and restaurant, beautiful landscaping, etc.

We loved our day in Kamakura!
We loved our day in Kamakura! Our hotel (Kamakura Prince Hotel) overlooked both the sea and Mt Fuji which was incredible. We used the Enoden to get around but mostly walked. We ate lunch by the beach, visited Kotoku-in and even went inside the Buddha (so interesting to see what it looked like inside!), then took a walking trail to Zeniarai Benten shrine which was beautiful. We didn't get to go to Enoshima unfortunately, but had a lovely time aside from that!

Nice area with some tourist attractions - but most of the touristy parts are around Kamakura station. If you go up to see the Buddha and Hase Temple, there are less tourist-style shops despite being the main attractions of the area. The tourist shops around Kamakura itself are nice but the same fare you get in the rest of Japan - cute textile items made in Japan, yukatas, 'instabae' cafes and matsuri-style food.
I would personally say the Great Buddha is somewhat underwhelming, but Hasedera is one of the loveliest temples I've been to in Japan.
It's easy to get between Kamakura and Hase using the Enoshima electric railway, and there are several beaches in the area. We personally went to Yuigahama which seemed like a nice family beach - drinking alcohol isn't allowed - unlike Enoshima beach, which is often full of drunk young people. I am often a young drunk person too, but the types of people at Enoshima beach are likely to get drunk and try to 'nanpa' (pick up) young women. Instead, Yuigahama had many families and young couples and a good security and lifeguard presence.
Along the whole coast of Kamakura and Enoshima, be careful of the birds (specifically crows and black kites) as they may try to steal food. Many crows were rifling through people's, whereas a kite stole an ice cream right out of my hand.

This very charming and picturesque old Capital of Japan is situated between mountains on one side and the beach with Enoshima island on the other side. The old history and culture is present almost everywhere with lots of beautiful buildings, temples and shrines. Ideal for a couple of days sightseeing close to Tokyo and lovely walks along the beach.
Make sure to visit Hasedera Temple, Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine and Enoshima.
While a little out of the way from the main tourist attractions, it was still within walking distance to shops, the beach, Enoshima Island, and the aquarium. Actually, it was kind of nice to not being right in the middle of the hustle and bustle. If you're a little more confident with your Japanese language skills, there are also smaller shops in the area that cater more towards the locals that are very accessible. Huge shoutout to the lady who runs the place too - very friendly and helpful. Made us feel right at home.
Clean, comfortable and quiet. Great location, within a few minutes walk of the Giant Budda, Kamakura Hasedera and numerous cafes, bars and cool shops. I loved the vibe in this part of Kamakura and would definitely stay here again. The bed I slept in was exceptionally comfortable (soft by Japanese standards) and the shower whilst small was functional with good water pressure and temperature. I was travelling by myself and felt very safe and comfortable here. I would also highly recommend the attached bar/restaurant.
Great Location in Kamakura, several minutes work from Kamakura station and Komachi St (Shopping Street).
Clean and new facilities, with a Japanese style public bath.
Friendly staff and nice quiet place to stay.
Tosei Hotel is a Japan local small chain hotel, this is second time I stay in Tosei hotel cocone.
Recommend this if would use budget hotel.
Breakfast cost 1650 YEN on today's price. I did not try breakfast due to early leave, the price is good, I believe it would be good.
The room was comfy, spacious and clean, with rough textured flooring (disposable slippers provided). Could faintly hear the sound of Enoden passing through (and street warning sirens) on and off, really vaguely and wasn't loud, enjoyed that sound tbh (Japan vibes). Walking distance from Kamakura station, Komachi-dori st and Tsurugaoka shrine. Staff members were very friendly and even recommended places to go when I was out of options, as many attractions were closed at night.
The location of the hotel was superb, just 2mins walk from the JR Kamakura Station. I arrived on a rainy day, the short distance really makes the difference. The room size I booked was great as well, there are 3 sections, the entrance with toilet and bath, bed section & living section. The hotel also surrounded by local amenities and convenient stores. I definitely will choose this hotel should I revisit Kamakura.
Nice traditional hotel of Japan style, feels like a guest home cuz guests are young and friendly but everyone have their room. The staff is enthusiastic and adorable, connecting me one day in advance to show the way and check-in method. There’s also a beatiful yard and suit to take a rest with Japanese wooden sandals. If there are dispose toothbrushs, toothpastes and shavers it could be better.
* the house looks traditional and the common area has a japanese style interior (tatami mats, short-legged tables). There is a water dispenser for hot or cold water, as well as free coffee and tea.
* the owner is really friendly, helpful and has some good recommendations.
* the guesthouse was very clean and had a nice, calm atmosphere. It is close to the beach and some nice pancake-cafè.
The staff was friendly and helpful, the area was great, right at the beach and close to enoshima .
It's a great choice for one or two nights if you want to travel during the day. It's a normal Japanese house, so no sterile hotel. 1 minute from the station and around 15 min walk to enoshima. The pictures on the page are what you get. No luxury but good, clean basic housing.
The owners were so friendly and helpful and helped us learn to say things in Japanese too! It was so fun talking to them, also about architecture (they are architects). The location was perfect for seeing all of Kamakura especially the giant Buddha and hiking on the trails and seeing the other temples and shrines and the beach and going to fun restaurants!
The corner room we had was spacious and had large windows so we could see the goings to and fro of Kamakura. The room was modern and clean. A delight to stay in. The beds were very comfortable. The location was brilliant- right in the middle of Kamakura. The water pressure in the shower was amazing and a Japanese bathroom with bath and stool, was a delight.
Super cute guesthouse, staff were amazing and so friendly and helpful, the house was super clean and tidy, real authentic Japanese feel to it, would love to come back here! Super good for the price, so close to the beach and could rent bicycles for so cheap for the day to explore
The staff and rooms were super nice. The hotel has an in-house cafe with great food. The location is very close to the water. The hotel is just a short walk from Kamakura’s main attractions which is amazing. this location is beautiful and relaxing
It is a beautifully clean and peaceful, modern Japanese-style guesthouse. The neighbourhood is very quiet and relaxing, and yet close to the beach and also tourist sights and restaurants and so on. Very walkable and close to the train station.
One of the best home hotels in Japan. The house is quite new, neat and modern. The foot massage machine is a bonus for elderlies. Shops such as family mart are close by. Washing machine and dryer are also working well.
good location with walking distance from the train station, easy access to the shops and restaurants. The owner and helpers are all very friendly. The Japanese style breakfast is very delicious, we like it very much!
Breakfast was one of the best (Japanese traditional food), and my little daughter liked everything! The beach is located 10 minutes walk on foot. Overall a very convenient place to go with a family!
Super easy check-in. The host was quick to respond and when we left jewelry at the place, he overnighted it to our next hotel which was SO nice. It's one block from the beach. Such a great stay.
Very beautiful traditional style Japanese house tucked away in a quiet neighborhood that is a ten minute walk to the Kamakura Daibutsu and five minutes to Hase station
