Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa, hotel in Shimonumabe

Featuring a spacious garden and 7 restaurants, Grand Prince Takanawa is a 5-minute walk from JR Shinagawa Shinkansen (bullet train) Station.

A beautiful hotel with a gorgeous Japanese garden. Facilities were good, a bit of an uphill battle with suitcases from the train station just as a heads up. A 7 eleven in the foyer of the combined hotels which is convenient.

Keio Presso Inn Gotanda, hotel in Shimonumabe

Offering air-conditioned rooms in the Shinagawa Ward district of Tokyo, Keio Presso Inn Gotanda is 700 metres from Yakushi-ji Tokyo Annex Temple.

I chose this hotel mainly for the price so I wasn’t expecting too much, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it was clean and serviceable with friendly staff and a decent breakfast. I had never been to Gotanda before, but I really liked the vibe—lots of little bars and restaurants, but the area around the hotel is quiet. It was close to Shinagawa too, which was nice because we were heading west on the Shinkansen the next morning.
