The beaches were probably the best and the coziest at the North of Mauritius, but the village itself is too dull.. no supermarkets or even shops, no cafes or street food, no places to buy food etc. You could literally be left hungry. No attractions either. It's several kilometres away from Mon Choisy or Grand Baie, and those are much much better in terms of everyday life with amazing beaches as well.

Not a lot going on in Pointe aux Piments.

Not a lot going on in Pointe aux Piments. If you are going there I'd recommend going to one of the big hotels. That said, I didn't think the beach in that area was that nice and most of the big hotels seemed to be under construction. The public beach front was quite littered.

The beach is good for snorkelling, but with reservations.

The beach is good for snorkelling, but with reservations. There are places where it is sandy and you and your children can get in and swim. But in the plcae we went (off Victoria Beachcomber, you need to have something on your feet and use a mask or goggles....there are sharp corals and rocks very close to the shore. There are lots of fish to see close to the beach (just off Victoria 2 and the little public beach next to it. There is some live, but also lots of dead coral, and sometimes the water is a bit hazy, but lots of fish too. You can get a bus to Pt Louis from the village - the bus goes round the opposite way to what you think - ask the locals. It takes c. an hour and costs 32 MR single.

The hotel is beside the sea. It is quite new.

The hotel is beside the sea. It is quite new. There is guest parking. The rooms are spacious. It is difficult to keep out the sand, but each apartment is cleaned daily. The staff are very welcoming, courteous and helpful. There are local shops, and small towns nearby offer alternative sources of food and drink. You do need a car to get around Mauritius, and this hotel is a fair way from the airport. This hotel is not on a beach, but there is a shuttle to a beach not far away.

This is a more authentic Mauritian style hotel , exactly what we were looking for rather than other hotels catering for all nationalities along with European type food . All staff we found to be very good but particular acclaim should go to Kunal , small chap who worked behind the bar and waiting tables ( really sorry didn’t catch your name but you will know who you are along with two chefs . Again don’t know their names but one lady( chilli sauce , buy it was hot ) and one man .

The hotel is very close to the ocean, so you can have room almost at the beach; there is a reef in the lagoon and you don’t need to go by boat to see wildlife (we saw octopus, lionfish, a lot of colorful fish); the personel is very nice and helpful

It's a really nice hotel direct by the beach. The restaurant with the seaview is amazing. The food was tasty, there were themed evenings - for example Mauritian, where we could try Bryani. The freshly pressed pinaple juice was amazing.
