El Ultimo Maya, hotel in Akumal

Set in Akumal and with Akumal Beach reachable within 1 km, El Ultimo Maya offers concierge services, non-smoking rooms, a terrace, free WiFi and a restaurant.

Lovely small and friendly hotel. Right in the middle of the village and just a few minutes walking from the beach. The rooms are basic but comfortable, everything you need for a day or two in Akumal. The staff helped me to arrange a snorkeling trip with a great guide (it was just the two of us, much better than the bigger groups you can join on the beach) and helped with working out colectivos, etc.

Maya Eco Village, hotel in Akumal

Set in Akumal, 28 km from Tulum Archeological Site, Maya Eco Village offers accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a terrace.

Beautiful very well designed garden making you feel you are alone in a jungle paradise, very nice early in the morning with the sun coming off the trees and sounds of birds. Very nice touches with good lighting and seating area about the property and swing seat in the room. Very welcoming host and helpful with the travel cot for baby. Staff seemed friendly. The pool was so nice and relaxing It is possible to have dinner at the property for an extra cost, and the dinner was very tasty, unfortunately the host wasn't available for our whole stay but recommended areas to eat in the evening.

Del Sol Beachfront, hotel in Akumal

Offering an outdoor pool and a restaurant, Del Sol Beachfront is located in Akumal.

Absolutely beautiful! A little slice of paradise! Secluded and very very relaxing. Very clean, great AC, comfortable bed, perfect shower.water tank in the room. Very Safe. The staff is very very kind, Teresa is adorable and so is Federico. the beach area is very quiet, i recommend water shoes as it is impossible to enter it barefoot due to the corals. The sunset is breathtaking, unreal view from the bed, woke up to the sounds of the waves and birds. Lot of wild animal life around. Jungle cafe for breakfast and la buena vida for lunch/dinner.

I think it should be clearly stated that the ocean swimming and snorkeling on the property is quite limited unless you want to pay for a guide and wear a life jacket. The areas where paid guides take people are often crowded. No groceries stores in the area, only 7-11 type shops with processed foods. Breakfast (continental) was quite good. To upgrade to egg dishes was way overpriced. Very few dinner options available. A couple of restaurants within walking distance. No evening dining at the hotel itself. If you are not an ocean swimmer or snorkeler but just want to swim in a pool or lay on the beach this place would work for you.

Akumal is a nice town with a very nice beach and a great option to observe sea turtles in the Turtle bay, do a diving course or just chill at the beach. Unfortunately, you can't get to any of the beaches for free, all of the entrance is paid. We found the local guys who were shouting at us and always wanting money for something or trying to sell us something quite disturbing and some of them even rude to us as foreign visitors. The prices the beach are very high in the proximity od the beach. At the end of our stay someone ransacked our friend's room and soon after stole my handbag when we were sitting in a restaurant in Akumal town. I think there is a thief mafia operating around.

There is lots to Akumal not just a restaurant and a little...

There is lots to Akumal not just a restaurant and a little beach. There are beaches, many different restaurants and cenotes. Tami and Elliot will help you understand the taxi system and also how to hop the combis (Public van service) that are cheap and easy to use. They are not chicken busses. There are cenotes everywhere. Some very tiny and some meandering through the jungle. An easy one is Cenote Azul. No real snorkeling but a beautiful place. Charge $10 dollars or much better rate if you pay on pesos. Use pesos as often as possible. Get pesos from the ATMs they have the best conversion rate. The condo beach is a bit of a walk, it who doesn’t need walking, but the cenote flows out into the ocean. Great a snorkeling. Big variety of fish. You can see the transition layer between fresh and salt water. I think our favorite place where we went twice was La Buena Vida restaurant on Akumal beach and after dinner walk up the beach And hitchhiking a golf cart ride back to the highway for a taxi ride ride north back to Sirenis. Most everyone speaks tolerable English but be respectful and learn some rudimentary Spanish like bathroom, beer, check please, thank you and please. Whew. Can you tell we had a great eight day trip?

It was a good place for our troop to convene - 7 in all.

It was a good place for our troop to convene - 7 in all. We had some fun - particularly at the shows. The food was good but not great. The staff was great. The beach was a disappointment - full of seaweed and rocky. Trucks on the beach at 7am sunrise a big turnoff. I would not return unless the beach situation improves.

I didn't spend time in Akumal proper- most of the time was on the resort, but there seemed to be a LOT of options for activities on that stretch of road between Tulum and Playa del Carmen, so as a starting point, finding a resort in Akumal is a great location. My friend and I took a 30min taxi to Playa del Carmen and a 20min ride to swim with dolphins. We also went with the wedding party to Tulum and a cenote which was gorgeous and that trip was very short as well. Lots to do in the area!

Amazing hotel! we had a great time here, it was all we expected and more. Food was really good, many different options to eat at the buffet or the special restaurants. we did not get reservations for restaurant but it was easy to get a table. we don’t have anything to complain about to be honest. our room was awesome and really close to the beach (we loved the beach). I will say this is a great option for you to stay, we will repeat (maybe changing to another hotel in the complex).

Basic room, mostly clean. Big enough and also space to put your things. Next to the main street. With a terracce facing the street. With table and two chairs and a fridge in the room. Bathroom is quite old and basic but ok. Central in the town with restaurants and supermarkets near by. But if you want to go to the beach it is 30min by foot. Good for one night if you want to stay in akumal.

The bay setting for snorkeling. The lazy river, the quiet pool, the beach bar and bartenders and servers were great with service. The grounds and jungle were nice. Loved the healthy juice bar and coffee shop. The shows were pretty good. The room were nice once they cleaned and repaired everything, but to start your vacation with so much needing fixed and cleaned was not a positive.

This property is a good break from the all-inclusive Mayan Riviera hotel circuit. It's nice to have the space of a condo (which would be particularly good for a family) and the location inside the sprawling upscale Grand Sirenis development is great for beach and cenote access (ask your host how to find these). Nice modern condo with small roof top pool at an excellent price.

Everything was great! Good food. Helpful staff. Clean and spacious rooms. The hotel is connected to the other 3 Bahia Principe hotels (Akumal, Tulum, Sian Kaan) forming a whole city of its own. Also, the hotel is within 1 hour of the most attractions in Riviera Maya and only 2 hours from Chichen Itza.

This place is amazing! The staff is incredibly nice, the rooms are spacious and nice. Bed is really great. And everything on the property is maintained really well. Location is very relaxing, away from all the tourists in Akumal, but a 10 min beach walk away for when you do want to go into the town.

where do I begin? you HAVE to experience this place, it is INSANE. There are 2 cenotes that are open 24/7, dinner is AMAZING, the staff are so friendly and you're able to use the bicycles free of charge which we used to cycle to Akumal beach. Honestly one of the best experiences of my life. 5 star

Very beautiful villa on the beach. We rented two apartments with other family, so we did have 1/2 of the villa. There is 4 apartments. Top floor apartment was on 2 floors. And master bedroom had most stunning sunrises and infinity pool. Akumal was on waking distance from the beach (ca 1,5 km)
