The hotel offered more facilities than we expected. Dining room staff for dinner were excellent. Delighted at large dining room. Excellent breakfast. Only problem with room was the bathroom was far too small. Room was warm and cozy.

Great value for money with the Ruapehu Unit. Most impressed, everything we needed and nothing we didn't. Would definitely use again
The views of the Tongariro mountains around National Park...
The views of the Tongariro mountains around National Park are excellent. It is a quiet little village with a good bar. There is no shop so buy your food before you head to National Park. National Park is an excellent base if you are planning to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing walk as you can get a shuttle to and from the walk from here.

Excellent place for hiking and trekking.
Excellent place for hiking and trekking. Place is near by famous mountain area. If require, all the hiking gears can rent from near by shop. As an alternative to Alpine crossing, I recommend Taranaki falls, Lower Tama and Upper Tama lakes trekking.

It’s a great place to visit if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Venture into the outdoors there are so many good walking tracks and of course in the winter when the snow comes skiing as well!

It's a great base for exploring Tongariro National Park's hiking trails. Most trails are within a 10-minute drive. Keep in mind that the village only has two restaurants. Personally, I recommend the pub next to the mini golf for a good meal.

Great views of the mountains.
Great views of the mountains. Not many eating options but it is a tiny town/village. Schnapps bar is cozy and decent pub food. Spiral restaurant buffet breakfast was a bit average, a la carte menu looked better but wasn’t available on Sunday

Always enjoy the atmosphere in this beautiful rugged environment.
The Walks are very nice with beautiful scenery in every direction. Ohakune is also an interesting town with much to enjoy with cafe's, quaint eateries & many options for accommodation.
Stayed in room #1. Two bedroom, very clean and nicely appointed. Great jumping off point for Tongariro NP. Schnapp's Bar has good food and drinks and is ~ a 5 minute walk away. The Alpine Crossing is exhausting but unlike any other hike in terms of landscape/scenery. It's like walking on another planet at times. I stressed about our 10 year old (less so her 14 year old brother) but she crushed it. Just take your time. And Oreos.
I have never stayed in a container before, and I was a bit apprehensive, but I found it extremely spacious and comfortable for such a small space. The shower was also quite good and the rest of the facilities were sufficient for what we were there to do, the Tongariro Crossing. Hot bath after such a long day was also much appreciated.
It is a very good location for visiting Tongariro National Park. Room has enough space, beds are comfy. Laundryroom works easy and quick. We used the shuttle and lunchpakkage for the Crossing. Our driver Dutchie was humoreus and very helpfull. All was very good organised and lunchpakkage was very complete.
We had a wonderful stay at the Tongariro crossing lodge, even though the weather was a little rainy and moody. Having a pleasant environment with a lot of walks around and suggestions from the staff was really helpful. we can confirm as per everyone’s reviews that the breakfast is really nice as well.
Great location for hiking Tongariro Crossing. Close to a couple of good places eating out for dinner. Used the kitchen facilities to prepare our lunches, plenty of space. Property was clean and facilities were good for our party of 5. Beds were comfortable and plenty of hot water for showers.
The front desk staff were so helpful in helping us to plan our Tongariro Crossing walk. The kitchen and dining area are well-stocked and very comfortable for preparing food and meeting other travelers. Our family room was a good size and the bathroom was clean.
Room was good, several bathrooms to use in the hall. Did not use the kitchen. There are several restaurants and bars in town. Close to the National Park (about 10 minute drive) and skiing. Sink in kitchen, also a small shop onsite for snacks and sodas.
Great little lodge. Handy to National park, and very warm and cosy setting. Wasn’t expecting much for the really cheap rate, but it was really nice, and a perfect place to rest up after a full day exploring the walks around Tongariro national park
The room was clean and tidy and comfortable for two persons. The restaurant menu was good and provided a range of options at a reasonable price. The location was excellent for access to and from the Tongariro Crossing.
Clean and spacious rooms. We also liked the way they help you organize the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, from renting out hiking boots to providing shuttle service to and from there.
