The house was spacious and clean with a well equipped kitchen. There were around 6 bed rooms and 2 and a half bathrooms, which seemed like enough since I never had to wait to use the restroom.
The staff were very friendly, always smiling and laughing.

Loved the Riverside restaurants and playground area.
Loved the Riverside restaurants and playground area. The Hunderwaisser museum was good too. The walk along the river on a good day and arty house and crafts in shops are delightful. Whangarei city is nice to investigate the many stores and restaurants some up little alley ways. Great coffee and breakfasts there too. It's a lovely city I've visited many times.

Your ID will probably be checked at least once by police.
Large selection of food places.
Apart from Hundertwasser Art Centre, Whangarei Museum, the alternative Quarry Art Centre and the Waterfalls, check out town has anything else you need or are interested in… a quiet town otherwise!

The place is pretty by the marina with shops and restaurants, but! Due to circumstances missed the lunch/dinner hours for eating out. All (yes all on the waterfront) restaurants only offer bar snacks during other hours. EG fries, squid rings etc. We wanted something more substantial. Many people were walking away when they found that out. This is a tourist spot for pities sake!
We had had a long drive and were starving!
Also no really nice accommodation. Best I found was 3 1/2 star Distinction Hotel which has good bones but was really tired needing a major makeover. Stained carpet, wall paper peeling off. I am a kiwi and embarrassed that this tourist spot has sat on its laurels. I know people struggling with covid etc but wouldn’t you want to do everything in your power to make your place more desirable. My view - if you don’t have to stop don’t 😡

Pembrooke was across the road from a lovely inner city bush.
Pembrooke was across the road from a lovely inner city bush. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony and listening to the birdsong. Supermarkets and eats were close enough.
We didn't have enough time to visit places though we know there are great places to visit.

We only stayed for one night so we managed to get down to the marina and see the cool ball-clock and the Hundertwasser (which is amazing) and have an awesome lunch (so many places to pick from!). Next time we go to Whangarei we will be sure to do the loop walk which sounds very interesting indeed!

We went with the kids to aquatic centre, flip out, action zone and the heritage park. Very good family entertainment and easy to drive from place to place. The motel is very close to supermarkets and various eateries. Good location.
It is great for how cheap it is. It's a bit run down, and has a few cosmetic flaws but for a bed in a city for 2 people, you just can't complain about the price or location. The bed was comfortable, the sheets were clean, fresh towels, massive TV with netflix. What else do you need? If you want luxury then no this isn't the place. I like how old school it is, still like the old style pub. The room is huge too very spacious.
We always stay at this accommodation when visiting or passing through Whangarei.
The Hotel is just beautiful with a large restaurant area, wonderful views, quiet, very spacious rooms and bathroom with a bath, free on site parking and free very good internet.
We dined at the restaurant, both had the snapper fish main which was delicious, very fresh and a generous portion.
Would highly recommend.
Couldn't recommend this accommodation more! Becks was so lovely to deal with, with clear communication, and very accommodating to our requests! The accommodation was perfectly clean (I have high standards too)! Bed extremely comfortable. Just wish we could have stayed longer. Location very central as well, only a couple minutes drive to main city centre. Thank you Becks for a perfect stay.
Comfy beds, free in room movies and a crsipy cold Aircon. Quest quality is pretty consistent and Whangarei doesn't disappoint. Check in staff were friendly and attentive, late check out was given and was appreciated after a long drive to town. Walking distance to cafes and movies, ideal location, parking was easy to find and lifts go straight to your floor.
It is an older hotel, The bathroom was spotless, and large, The room itself was big with a balcony overlooking the marina. The staff in the restaurant were young and in training, they were excellent. Well done to the hotel for employing young locals and training them well. Room service breakfast was good. I would stay again.
Motel unit ( 2 bedroom ) was vey clean and well presented . The bed was comfortable and the location ,next to a small shopping complex was good. Excellent Thai restaurant ( recommended by owner ) close by with other food outlets handy
. Easy 10min drive to main Whangarei basin.
Everything is easy. We were able to drive straight to our room. The key was there and when we left we could leave the key in the box by the door. We have stayed at the Continental numerous times and it is the best valued motel in the area. Thank you. We will see you next time
Brilliant for a whangarei stay we used the house as a family that met half way to meet each other so 4 adults 3 kids and a baby. Just the right bedding and hang out space and the spa was lovely to use down at the motel end. You have to book your 30min slot in but it works.
The Settlers seems fine for a 3 star hotel room. The host was very pleasant and welcoming - probably the best part of the stay. Did not go to the bar or Restaurant. As far as I can tell fine for a stopover for work.
Such a cute little cabin :) And the bed was super comfy, best sleep i've had in a while lol. The host was also super lovely and attentive. Can't wait for my next trip to Whangarei, will definitely be back!
Loved staying here, definitely one of the better places to stay at in Whangarei as this motel is well cared for, clean and tidy. Good wifi, comfy beds and a good shower - all that we needed for 1 night.
Excellent location, excellent price for airbnb quality. We rather stayed 3 weeks here than stay shorter in a more expensive hotel. If coming again, definitely my first choice.
This was a budget motel, but the apartment was exceptionally clean. Staff were very helpful and location was fairly close to town centre. Have no complaints.
