Discovery Samal, hotel in Samal

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful during our entire visit, even by Filipino standards. The resort itself was brand new, and felt extremely well put together and high quality. The breakfast was excellent, the multiple pools were excellent, and the beach was very nice. There were several restaurant options, as well as several activities that we were able to do that made the entire stay very enjoyable. They have their own private catamaran that transfers you from Luzon to Samal that was very nice and much faster than the ferry. From their private fairy location on Luzon on the resort, you were able to travel everywhere by golf cart. If you wish, which is very nice because the entire resort is on a big hill. The breakfast every morning was excellent with tons of options and a very good selection. The pools were very warm and the rooms were excellent. Our room was made up twice a day, and they brought by a complementary dessert every night as they did the second turn down service. The overall facilities were very impressive and felt very luxurious, and the security of the resort was very high-end. It was a little bit of a process to get on and off the resort from the back entrance, but they guaranteed that no one who wasn’t supposed to be there was there. Even though we stayed on a holiday weekend, when the resort was nearly booked out, it never felt crowded, which surprised me. I don’t believe they’re grand opening is until this fall, so they are still figuring some minor things out but their service has vastly improved from some of the reviews I have read from late 2023, and early 2024. They continue to improve and there was no construction when we were there in March 2024. I would highly recommend this to friends and family that we’re looking to stay at a nice resort near Davao.

    The location was perfect.

The location was perfect. It was just a short 3 minute tricycle ride from the ferry terminal. The staff were very friendly and accommodated to all of our needs. The food at the restaurant was also delicious and was affordable. The staff at the bar were nice and made the cocktails really well. The room was nice and clean and had basic but good amenities. The swimming pool was amazing and very clean, could stay there for hours! The little beach area was also nice but you have to wear slippers in the water as the rocks were very sharp. Only bad thing was the flashing light in the room which I’m sure was not normal. It was flashing every 5-10 seconds and was very bright and kept me up all night. Other than that, we had an amazing stay and will be back next time.

Unlike Davao, there's no traffic on Samal. That was a plus!

Unlike Davao, there's no traffic on Samal. That was a plus! The cell signal is very bad and making needed phone calls can be a problem. GPS is useless there as well. Most roads are not surveyed. Additionally, you might be on a paved road that turns to a dirt road and that could turn into impassable! There are a few nice places to stay, but the difficulty and time of reaching Samal is really not worth the investment. There are very few tourist attractions other than the beaches. Finding places that you want to go to eat can be a challenge as well. All in all, Samal is tipped to the primitive side of the scale.

Nice Island. Great for swimming, snorkelling, food.

Nice Island. Great for swimming, snorkelling, food. Not so good of you're used to normal beaches; each resort is blocked and around 20m wide, which is a great pity and almost stupid, it would've been much better to keep it like in Boracay.

Samal for me is relaxation and reflection. I enjoyed everything I experienced. From the boat ride, the birds, the water, the view, the fishes, the food, the singers, the people, the hospitality and the service. I'm so grateful for witnessing this.

The place is just perfect for us as it’s away from a busy seasides and resorts and the fact that we need to wind down after a busy stay in town. Our host Wendy was very very helpful and her team as well Can’t wait to go back to stay at their place 👍👍👍

it is very easy to reach the island, just call the hotel.and.you would.get all the infor u want.jet ski is fun to try.the water is crystal clean and i have seen lots of fish. i basically dont want to do anything but looking at the everything in front of me for whole day is enough. it is a good place for relaxation and escaping stressed citylife. the food was great but sometimes thete are not too many choices. The only thing i dont like is the plastic inside the water on the way from the wharf to the island..this is part of journey and seeing plastic in the ocean break my heart

Conveniently located as it’s just few minutes away from the Waterfront Hotel. Chemas offers free boat transfer which made the trip hassle-free. Chema’s by the sea has a rustic vibe. The nature’s landscape definitely added to its beauty and uniqueness. The pool is clean and the beach is nice to swim at when its high tide. The staff is the highlight of the place I would say. Approachable, friendly and well-trained. The food is also their strong asset, it is indeed worth the penny. All the meals we ordered are delish.

Peal Farm left us committed to exploring Samal, Davao and the other beautiful parts of the Glorious Country the Philippines. There is really no reason to vacation at locations such as Hawaii where the prices and hospitality don’t even compare to Pearl Farm Resort My Wife and I thank the Guest experience manager and the entire team and staff (literally every staff member we saw greeted us and took care of us) we will definitely visit again with more family

Transport from Davao (Insular hotel) on a speedboat was included which was very convenient and the experience was fun. The staffs were super accommodating and the place was surrounded by nature which was nice and peaceful. Food was delivered to the rooms (table outside the room) and the portions are reasonable. The bed was also an amazing size so no worries about somebody being too tall or too big for it.

Ninio, the owner is very helpful & responsive. The place is full of nice paintings by the owner. Very homy, peaceful & provincial-feel, wide open space with fresh air on the area. The brewed coffee + bread & eggs for breakfast are also good. Wifi signal is strong in the room but overall good experience for our Samal island tour.

Location if very far but the water is so clear compared to other beaches in Samal Island. It is not a white beach but it is very clean compared to a normal beach now a days. There were not much guest when we book so the resort was somehow exclusive to us. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.
