There are many options on Rtanj, what to visit.
There are many options on Rtanj, what to visit. It is peacefull and ideal for nature lovers and for getaway from everyday's noice and buzz. Air is clean, you can breathe deeply. Food is domestic and traditional (you could never eat that type, quality and amount of food for that low price in any other town in Serbia). People there are open-minded. Everyone comes for their own reason. During the winter it isn't crowded, so you can enjoy in silence. There are many energetic places. Even if you are traveling by yourself, you will meet likeminded people and will never be alone. :)Vukanic - 10Scored 10

Beside being a beautiful mountain and national park, it is also knows as the AREA 51 of Serbia, as the pyramid-like mountain top is claimed to have been built by the aliens as a special cosmic energy generator. This way you can combine a mountaineering novice-friendly climb (following a well trodden and not too steep path) with re-energizing in an area with scientifically recorded unusual radiation in what is thought to be an ancient (or alien:) sanctuary at the foot of the mountain. On top of that, you can enjoy visiting local households who all prepare natural juices, herbal teas from endemic herbs growing only at this location, and extremely tasty local food. Entertainment-wise there is not much more to do than walk and enjoy local festivities, which, along with the fact that mobile reception and internet are scarce, will make for a lovely relaxing holiday. Visitors who prefer to drive around can also find stunning natural scenery and sites, as well as very affordable yet brilliant local restaurants just 15-30mins away, as well as a cute little spa city called Soko Banja, less than 20km away.

We did the Rtanj mountain hiking tour.
We did the Rtanj mountain hiking tour. The route is very well marked and easy to follow. If you love nature, you should definitively try it. We took the south side route. The first part was taking us through the beautiful forest and after that the route was filled with mountain flowers. If you visit Rtanj, do not forget to buy herbal tea from the locals that they hand pick on this mountain.VioletaSerbia
