Maintaining the Warmth
One can get a little nostalgic when talking about the development of Hua Hin. The first beachside resort town in Thailand was originally a small fishing village. It manages to maintain a laid-back atmosphere despite chain hotels invading the best vantage points along Hua Hin Beach.
The current King of Thailand, Bhumibol Adulyadej, spends much of his time here in the royal residence of Klai Kangwon Palace, built in 1927. The local Thai population have followed ever since as they escape the stifling heat of Bangkok.
Hin Lek Fai Hill provides the finest outlook of the bay and its 5 km-long stretch of beach. The central Hua Hin Night Market satisfies your wallet and your stomach with its mix of local souvenirs and freshly cooked seafood.
These days there is a distinctive cosmopolitan flair to the city with many restaurants and hotels purveying a European influence. It is also less hectic than Pattaya, the rival beach resort on the other side of the Bay of Thailand.
Hua Hin Airport has flights from Bangkok, and the wooden Thai-style train station is regarded as the prettiest in Thailand. The city has many hotels and resorts for families and couples and Booking.com can also accommodate you at the famous Centara Grand Beach Resort and Villas.

Hua Hin is much more relaxed than Pattaya and Bangkok. There are lots of bars and restaurants and the local beaches are beautiful. It's also easy to travel in land where there are amazing waterfalls and rivers with lots of activities to do.

I've been a regular visitor to Hua Hin for over 20years. My favorite place' Despite the influx of tourists you can still find the Thai way of life. The night market is still a favourite for many but try the Thai food and entertainment end of Soi 102 and the Tamarind towards Koh Takiab (Thurs till Sunday). Ther's a cheap Baht bus 20baht. Stick your hand out to get on. Beware they cahange to more expensive taxi after 9pm. Petchaburi is a gem > wander around the world heritage temples and buildings It's vibrant market finishes at noon. I liked the city so much!
I liked the city so much! we were there for almost 2 weeks and i think 10 days would be enought but still. we didn`t visit sightseeing places there there is such a beauty in an old city of Huahin, in the romantic old-fashioned railway station, the beach is good, it`s quiet and not so many people in the city. I especially liked the street art which is done by a team of two people so they use ony stylistics. the murals give the city this spesial vibe maybe could be less of massage salons but it`s Thailand so no bragging on that people are good, the sea is good. the fishing port is nice. very calm place, quiet. not for partying etc. even though there is a pub street so if you like socializing it`s a spot to check i loooved the city and want to come back for sure!

We have been going to Hua Hin for over 24 yrs and have never been disappointed, stayed in many different types of accommodation from hotels to air B and B`s , and managed apartments , we prefer to stay out of town as it’s quieter and a tuk tuk is only around 150 baht for a trip into town . It’s only 3 hours from Bangkok by private taxi company, safer than the mad dash mini vans and well worth 1,700 baht to travel in a bit of luxury , We ate at the white orchid restaurant which we really liked also in Cicada weekend Market and the Night Market in town and if your not keen on spicy food then head for Father Teds Irish bar as they have a full range of English pub grub , What would we avoid on our next visit? Probably nothing at all , but do beware of the pavements if your unsteady on your pins ,

It took us a day to work out how best to get around, some basic information about this in the room would have helped. We walked, cycled and used the songthaews (local buses) The centre is lively and busy, staying at the Marrakesh hotel meant you could dip in and out of this at leisure. I would stay there again. There was also a really good yoga studio nearby - Shakti yoga. Yod is a really good teacher, I would recommend him if you’re in to yoga!

The beach is on the hotels doorstep, and our son also spent the whole time in the ocean. The hotel is right on the edge of the part of the beach you can walk along (the rest of the beach has the tide right up to sea walls), and so we could walk each day to explore and get to the Monkey Island temple etc. This end of Hua Hin is very quiet, but it suited us perfectly.
