Location, cleanliness. A bit old but compared to the rest in the area this was great. Overall the main reason they still get good rating is because of the cleaning staff, they are awesome.

This city is charming, cheerful, and full of personality.
This city is charming, cheerful, and full of personality. The cafes, the grocery stores, the art expositions, the river, the churches, the children... I could live here. Charleville-Mezieres is like something out of a movie.

Beautiful interesting city with lots of history- and an amazing museum ( which is free on the first Sunday of the month) to explain it all.
Lots of places to eat and drink and some great shops. The ardenne regional park looked lovely and worth an explore.
Small centre to the town and very easy to cover on foot.
We ate at a fab restaurant ( can’t remember the name) in the place ducale, which is absolutely magnificent, blending the history and grandeur of its buildings with modern life; bars, sandpits, beach volleyball, table tennis, carousel and music.
Absolutely wonderful visit.

It was just a quickly-decided, off-the-cough 2-day getaway visit at a 2 hours drive from home. Place Ducale is a nice surprise, stay for dinner in on the terrace of one of the resto's until dusk.

I just came here for Rimbaud — so it could have been a dismal swamp and I still would have come. Charleville-Mézières has a nice center with a collection of good bars and restaurants. Locals and service staff were all very friendly. It was an unpretentious and pleasant surprise.

The Place Ducale, which is a rather big square for a relatively small city like Charleville-Mézières,has a number of cafés and restaurants with terraces, and seems to be the place to be for the locals.
Idyllic is a walk or a ride on the bike along the river banks of the river Meuse which flows at the edge of the city, and where apparently river cruises can be made.
Worthwhile is driving the 20 km to the next city Sedan: the castle there is worth visiting, particularly during summermonths when there are knight tournaments (good fun for kids).
As for eating out : we arrived on Sunday evening and found the majority of the restaurants closed, the same of which was true for Monday evening.
Charlesville-Mezières is overall a rather dull city, not worth spending more than a day to visit.

We had a great time despite the rain:)
Room and breakfast: very good value for money.
They had a safe place to park our bikes.
Our room (under the roof) and bathroom were quite big and very clean (though the carpet ground would need to be refreshed).
Helpful staff.
We reached the beautiful town center in 10 minutes.
Positively surprised given that the hotel only has two stars.
I loved my stay at Chambres du Petit Bois. The host Catherine was very welcoming, provided everything I needed including an excellent breakfast. She went beyond helpful by doing my cycling laundry with was amazing!
The room was spacious, exceptionally clean and provided everything I needed. I highly recommend this hotel.
I travel every week for many years and this is the best accommodation I have EVER found in France.
Absolutely fantastic apartment with everything provisioned for.
The internal decor surpasses 5 star hotels.
Very large living room and bedroom.
Perfect for a young family, couple or solo travelers.
Yes, the aging of the interior shows itself through the doorknobs, and floors but duebto the excellent value for the price: the location, comfortable beds and super cleanliness, this hotel is a gem.
I would rather say a hotel for one night. Room was big but not the cleanest.
Note there is no elevator.
Easy parking on the street. Receptionist helpful with parking information.
Very good value. An old charming hotel just in front of the station. Nothing to complain. The staff was very friendly and I had un upgrade for a better room without asking for.
The hotel is a convenient hotel to spend the night. The staff is friendly and helpful. Als the restaurant right next to the hotel (Mambo) is worth visiting.
A Lovely little Hotel in the heart of town, very freindly host.
Small but charming building, done to modern standards but in a lovely historic building.
