Very comfortable and quiet. Perfect for our bikepacking trip as there was room for our bikes in the room, a double bed each and the bar served delicious food! Lovely spot near a canal with very friendly staff!

I recently stayed at Tanamara Guest House and had a wonderful experience! The 70s-themed decor is delightfully nostalgic, with vibrant colours and retro furnishings that transport you back in time, but with Modern facilities!
Despite the vintage look, the comfort level was exceptional. The rooms were cosy and well-maintained, making for a very pleasant stay. Best of all, the price was very affordable, offering excellent value for money. Just a small tip: avoid getting on Chris, the owner's bad side and your stay will be smooth and enjoyable. I highly recommend it for a unique and comfortable getaway!

The location was easy to find and the chalet was stylish and set in grounds near a lake. Parking was directly outside the chalet and all in all it was peaceful and scenic. The chalet warmed up quickly and there was enough space for the two of us.

Retford is situated between the River Idle & Chesterfield Canal and makes a good base for exploring these and the nearby Idle Valley Nature Reserve. We were actually staying overnight as we were at an event at Retford Little Theatre which I can also recommend. The market place is quite impressive with it's war memorial and selection of old buildings. There are the usual eateries, charity shops and discounts stores as well of a selection of pubs. I can highly recommend the Idle Valley Tap if you are into your craft beers/real ales.

Just an overnight stay in the old Police Station where I worked years ago, in the town I lived in for 23yrs. Visiting friends. The town still has character, with an attractive market square. There are an array of varied eating options, from budget to quality restaurants. The hotel itself is conveniently placed in the centre of town next to the large and pleasant Kings Park.

Retford is a charming market town with an antique market on a Friday and general market on a Saturday with plenty of local shops to browse.
There are plenty of excellent restaurants , particularly the lounge at Rhondo where fantastic breakfast is served , in fact fantastic food all round. It is exceptional for anyone with allergies with dedicated staff and kitchen especially gluten free. With Cumber national trust park not far away and of course the local craft company Indigoblu it’s a great place to visit. It’s small enough to get around easily and more than it’s fair share of great restaurants ie Gurka on a sun night for a buffet, Italian called the herbalist which does outstanding garlic bread and freshly cooked food. The sun inn is brilliant and quality food. The only confusing thing is all the places and restaurants seem to have two names! Enjoy 😊

The central area of Retford around the Market Square is quite historic and attractive. There are a limited number of good places to eat. The best (imo) is Spencers on the Square which is in a lovely old building that was an Auction House. I also went to the Brew Shed, which has good local beers but the food is only average. It was very busy.
The staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. The location is perfect as our family live in Retford. The rooms are large, spotlessly clean, have fresh white towels and the beds were made daily as well as cleaning the tea making area. Finally you have the use of a very well equipped kitchen/dining area. Along with an washing machine, ironing facilities, and two fridge freezers! What more could you ask for… oh and the price for all of the above is exceptional, we will definitely be staying again.
Hillcrest was perfect for us - especially being just up the road from our friends in Retford. There are gorgeous views from the cottage, and the garden was perfect for our dog to run around and let off steam in. Mindful of the locals (aka sheep), we loved the long walks following the bridleways starting just over the road. The cottage itself is comfortable and warm. Nicola, just next door, was the perfect host and made us feel very welcome.
Marie was just the best host!
So warm and welcoming and just beautiful energy ✨️
She could not be any more lovely and accommodating!
The house is so lovely and tastefully decorated and we situated in Retford, we used to live there and Marie's accommodation couldn't be better situated, a stones throw from the town, lovely canal walks and train station.
Just grateful ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The cabin is set in beautiful surroundings and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The welcome pack was really thorough and useful. My kids absolutely loved the zip line and small play area and the location was fab for the ice cream farm, local park, going into Retford and Sherwood Forest.
Hillcrest is very welcoming as are its hosts. It is warm, comfortable and surprisingly spacious. It is sunny and light filled and is tastefully furnished and equipped. Peacefully located in a charming small village, Hillcrest has wonderful views over surrounding countryside and its own large garden.
Hotel was very accommodating I mentioned I could be late and may not make the check in time so they left the key in a key locker for me. Staff at the pub was very helpful too. All in all if you ever in the area I would recommend getting a room here.
Charming accommodative staff, good food, excellent value for money. Very relaxed atmosphere for family group. Rooms are in old stable block, so away from main pub area . Beautiful view over the canal, especially at sunset.
Excellent breakfast and location. Brilliant staff all courteous, friendly and professional. Billy, the restaurant manager was exceptional as were the hotel receptionists in providing us with an extra night's stay.
The staff were very helpful and assisted with my luggage. The cleaners came out twice to give me items I had left behind. Plenty of space in the room and good wide corridoor so I could use my mobility scooter.
Location good for a visit to Retford centre. Parking provision good and secure. Gardens beautiful - even in the rain! Room clean, spacious, warm (despite single glazed windows) and well equipped.
Very good stay, comfy, it heart of Retford, all was close by, very nice stuff, clean car park is very close, room service . Thanks ,highly recommended ,will come back for sure
