Academic and Artistic Greatness
An artistic gem, Padua (or Padova in Italian) seamlessly combines awe-inspiring heritage and a modern vibe. Counting Galileo among its former tutors, the University has the world’s oldest UNESCO World Heritage-listed botanical garden.
Across the road is huge Prato della Valle, a green square with a canal lined by 78 statues, and home to a Saturday market. A market is also held in squares near to Palazzo della Ragione whose multi-levelled arches and vaulted wooden ceiling are an impressive sight. Cobbled, porticoed streets lead to the finely-crafted Gran Loggia and clock tower.
Every church has incredible décor, but the most famous is Saint Anthony of Padua, boasting the bones of the saint, an impressive 7 cupolas and 4 cloisters. The square in front has a statue by Donatello. Padua Cathedral's simple exterior houses amazing frescoes inside the baptistery by Giotto, creator of the jewel in Padua’s crown – the Scrovegni Chapel. His 14th century frescoes there have been meticulously restored to be as vibrant as the day they were painted.
The closest airport is Venice Marco Polo, but before you head there from your Padua hotel, apartment or B&B take time to enjoy the narrow streets around Palazzo del Bò or the Jewish district.

Honestly, I am a student in Padua, but because my uncle was visiting, I wanted to create a new experience for him in Padua.
Padua is a very clean and beautiful city and you can visit the sights in two days.

Beautiful city with plenty of culture and architectural landmarks. I would recommend it for anyone coming to Venice for its distance and relative affordability in comparison with the most tourist city of Veneto.

Padova is a fabulous city for people who like history, art, architecture, and culture. It is easy to move around the city on foot, and the city bus service is cheap, frequent, reliable and comfortable for places further out. The large student population makes for a very vibrant atmosphere, as do the outdoor markets in the piazzas.
The Scrovegni Chapel and Basilica of St Anthony are outstanding places to visit, but if you have time, tour the University. It is an inspiring experience to stand where giants of science, medicine and philosophy developed the ideas that shaped the world. Here you can see the lectern from which Galileo taught mathematics, and the world's first anatomy and dissection theatre, as well as lecture halls where the walls are covered with plaques commemorating famous alumni.

Recommend University Tour, Scrovegni Chapel, and the Basilica of St Anthony. Baptistery of the Duomo was just incredible. Renaissance architecture of the city is stunning.
Enjoyed the small bars for Aperitivo
I will stay for a longer period next time

Padua is a really handy and lovely place to stay in between Verona and Venice, so you can pay slighlty less for accomodation there and then take day trips to Verona (1 hr train ride away) or Venice (45 minutes away).
The food was, on average, much better and cheaper in padua than Venice.

We stayed in Padova only one night, arriving around 5 pm.
We stayed in Padova only one night, arriving around 5 pm. We found lots and lots of places that served sandwiches and coffee/beer/wine but, in contrast to Udine, we had a hard time finding restaurants with real food. I would not go back.
We came for the first time and only for 1 night, but we were surrounded by the attention and care of Filippo and his family as if we were regular guests. Filippo told us a lot of interesting things about the city and recreation opportunities around. We were very surprised how beautiful and interesting Padova is. We felt the atmosphere of real Italy here, both in the house and in the city. It was a fantastic experience. We'll definitely come back. Thank you!
Everything was very good - our room, the breakfast, the breakfast room overlooking a small garden. We had a large, comfortable and immaculate room with a private terrace. The location in the university district is convenient to the train station and to the historic centre. We were meeting up with friends from Italy and much appreciated that the staff assigned us rooms (and terraces) that were side-by-side.
Perfect location near all the main attractions. Host spoke excellent English and was very easy to communicate with. He gave us an excellent recommendation for a restaurant - Enoteca dei Tadi. Apartment was super clean and looks to have been fully refurbished in the last few months or so. Bed was comfortable. Quiet. One of nicest places we stayed at during our trip to Italy.
The location of the apartment is great, just next to the city center and close to the university. There are also the tram and bus stop very close by. The host is also very nice and ready to help. We were a bit cold in the room and they immediately provided an electric heater. The comfort is also well above the average hotel in Padova.
Very clean, nice room, kind and helpful staff. I used Padua as my base so liked being close to train station. It felt safe walking back-forth and nice grocery store in station. Hotel was near tracks but double windows kept room totally quiet. My room didn’t include breakfast so I paid 5€ and it was very nice and worth it.
We were really happy with the location, the staff and the ease of all. The hotel beds are not comfortable and the hotel rooms would need a bit more comfort but overall the hotel is good and we were pleased with our stay. The breakfast is simple and heavy on the sweets, but for 8 euros acceptable.
The Casa Giotto is not a hotel, but it is as good as if not better than the best hotels. Ideally located, it is an excellent base from which to explore Padova. It is also very comfortable, the staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast vouchers in local cafes are good value.
Excellant location, near to the train station and to all important sights. The staff were very helpful and friendly and they offered a very good breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel and we would definitely use it again if we travel to Padova.
Everything was okay when it comes up to the room as a whole. Parking in front of the hotel is possible and even in the garage. I truly recommend the aparthotel. The room was clean. Location 20 min walk to center of Padova. 15-20 min walk to the train station.
Easy communication with the hotel. Early check in was possible and you are able to leave your bags early upon arrival.
Easy access to the train station but consider a decent walk before you enter the center of Padova (or take public transport).
- Everything perfect!
- Its absolutely ok if you want to go to Padova by car, you have only a 5-10 minute ride to the center
- very nice room and bathroom size
- Classic Italian Hotel near the road:)
- Very good noise sealing windows!
very clean, cozy hotel. parking is available and it is close to Padova center. I forgot my laptop and they packed it very carefully so it doesn’t get damaged. very positive experience! thank you all!
The location was central making it easy to reach places of interest in Padova. The hotel room was basic but everything you need was there! The checkin was open until late which came in very handy.
Great location! Extremely peaceful and quiet. The most quiet place I have been to in all of Italy! It was really peaceful. Well equipped. Well maintained. Comfy bed.
The hotel is located very near the Prato della Valle. The staff was very helpful and kind. Breakfasts were good and the rooms were clean. It was a comfortable stay.
More spacious and better room than in the three 4-star hotels we stayed in the previous 3 days in Italy. Also the only hotel with coffee and tea in the room.
A decent city hotel, very centrally located. Good price-quality ratio. Good attitude. Parking available in their yard, but little space, so not unlimited.
