I loved the tour of fort Jesus and the drive through Mombasa town. We had lunch at a place called char choma right on the beach front in Nyali, they have amazing barbecues. You definitely need a car to take you around Mombasa, anything less than that is not a good experience. Be careful with the locals, always ask the cost of their services before getting yourself involved. Beautiful beaches, friendly people, great local food & the fruit is amazing We were away from CBD ( whose heavy traffic hours are crazy!), and enjoyed the slower pace nearer the beach areas. It's quite easy to get around Mombasa & to cross from the North to the South Coast areas & vice versa using the now very reliable ferry system. I enjoyed how friendly and accommodating the staff were, they even helped us with getting transportation to our next accommodation in Diani beach.
