"The hotel with the soul" was my first thought when I entered the hall.
It feels very "home-like".
And everything (incl. tea&coffee sets in the room) demonstrates that you are welcomed.

Beautiful old city with excellent bus and rail services only...
Beautiful old city with excellent bus and rail services only 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Plenty museums to visit and the oldest university in the Netherlands, Botanical gardens and Rembrandt's home and studio. Canal cruises and cycle hire to explore the outer part of the city. Plenty places to eat. We tended to eat at the restaurant near the hotel. Ideal location to visit both Delft and the Hague from. Would hope to return again. I travelled with 18 members of my family and stayed in the Rembrandt Hotel. Everyone thought Leiden was an excellent location to visit Keukenhof, Delft and the Hague from.

Great town and central to day trips all over the Netherlands...
Great town and central to day trips all over the Netherlands. Much more pleasant than staying in Amsterdam and only a short 20 minute train ride directly to Schiphol Airport. Could not be more convenient and relaxing.

Leiden is a great place to stay.
Leiden is a great place to stay. It’s like staying in a mini Amsterdam without as many people. Lovely canals to walk around and lots of small individual places to eat. Very peaceful to stroll around with a lovely market held on Saturday and Wednesdays. We took one of the walking tours around the town which you can buy at the local tourist information office. Also enjoyed going up the Windmill, but be prepared for a steep climb down. Well worth a visit!

Lovely city to walk in.
Lovely city to walk in.
All the people we met and staff in bars and hotel were helpful and friendly.
Sadly only had time for one visit - to Hortus Botanicus- which was well worth the time.
Would plan to visit again.

Leiden and its surrounding offers you a lot if you like...
Leiden and its surrounding offers you a lot if you like walking in beautiful old cities alongside canals. A windmill that is seemingly so simple can explain Dutch social history but there are many other interesting museums as well, and a very special botanical garden. Public transport is well organised (except on special days) and you can reach gems outside the city like Spinoza house or lakeside restaurant. The sea is not far away either.
This hotel is very clean and inviting. The hotel is close to the train station (six minute walk) but also very close to all the sites in town. This close access to the train station was great being able to travel quickly around the country. The hotel is an old army barracks and sits in a small park. We had a lovely windmill out our window. Loved watching families and children play and enjoy the spring. The staff here are super friendly and helpful. They make you feel at home and are knowledgeable and proud of their great town.
The staff are outstanding! The room was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable. I truly enjoyed the breakfasts at TED's All Day Brunch which is where breakfast is served if you purchased the room including breakfast. Worth the extra costs for sure. The hotel is about 800 meters from Leiden Centraal an easily walkable distance but a taxi is also reasonable at 12.50 Euro. There is a shuttle bus from the hotel to central parking area where you can walk to everywhere and it is FREE.
This a a comfortably furnished apartment hotel, well located and sitting with a beautiful vista of one of Leiden’s canals. Do not expect reception - check in is via a code to a lockbox. Be aware there is a flight of very steep stairs - lots of reviews state this, so if you’re going to have a whinge about them, it’s not for you. I’m just mentioning it so you’re not surprised. If they don’t worry you, this place is in a perfect peaceful spot. It’s a lovely place to stay.
Such a nice and spacious room. Interiors were simple but very pleasing to the eyes. Theres an elevator for those with big luggage. Also a nice short walk from Leiden Centraal station to get to the property. So many good shops, cafes, restos around the area.
Very very convenient access to the entry points of the hotel. They attend to the guests needs as much as they can. So happy to have stayed here when i was in Leiden. =)
The location was perfect. Centrally located with easy access to Leiden Centraal as well as shopping and restaurants. The apartment was extremely clean and provided plenty of space for two people. We didn't have a single issue with any of the amenities. This was a very pleasant stay for us. Management was incredibly responsive when we had questions and really put our mind at ease.
I would highly recommend this property.
The location was perfect. It was close to everything in the center of town. It is a way from Leiden Centraal, so we took a taxi to the hotel (about 20 Euros). It is close to the Saturday and Wednesday markets, a good grocery store, and to some nice restaurants on the canals. They have bikes to rent there, and they functioned well. The staff was nice in making suggestions and assisting with things we needed.
Very friendly, helpful staff. Lovely building with character and very comfortable rooms. Well placed to appreciate Leiden which is very beautiful. Train station just 5 minutes walk for exploring Amsterdam and rest of the Netherlands, very good train service. The breakfast served on a platter each morning is definitely worth going for and we had lunch one day, also highly recommended!
The location of the hotel next to the train station was a great plus point for us as we took daily trips to other Dutch towns and cities
The hotel was also only 5 - 10 minute walk into the centre of Leiden
The rooms were very clean and the beds very comfortable.
Excellent value for money
The hotel is a traditional Dutch house, ideally located in the old city centre of Leiden, almost on Pieterskerk square. The train station is 15 minutes walking distance. Rooms are nicely decorated and spacious. There is a self check-in procedure which makes your arrival very easy.
We chose to stay in Leiden as it's a central point for days out to Delft, Haarlem, Utrecht and Amsterdam. The Hotel Mayflower seemed a good option due to its price and closeness to the railway station. Both the hotel and Leiden exceeded our expectations.
Excellent location for exploring Leiden. Very clean and comfortable room. Appreciated small refrigerator for wines, and coffee-making facilities. The availability of breakfast at the hotel is a "plus", very handy on days with a busy travel agenda.
* Good location in the center of city, surrounded by restaurants, coffeeshops, grocery store, within walking distance to Leiden Centraal.
* Staffs are friendly and helpful.
* They are kind in accommodating rooms for you when it is urgent.
The best hotel I have stayed at in the Netherlands. Large new room, great bathroom, best mattress I have slept on in years. Excellent breakfast and over all service. Public garage only 1 block away. Perfect Central Location.
Just across the train station/bus terminal, convenient for the work visit.
Walking distance to the city centre, supermarket next to the hotel.
Good breakfast.
Friendly staff.
Comfortable mattress.
A very charming room, very centrally located, with lots of good restaurants just around the corner. We loved the place and would happily choose this hotel when we come back to Leiden.
Location from the train station and all other points of interest.
Leiden was a very pretty town with charm and History
Coffee available at no cost.
Market next to hotel
I love the Golden Tulip. The reception staff are fantastic, so friendly and helpful. Checking in and out is so efficient. The hotel is comfortable and the location is perfect
