I have stayed before a year ago, and stayed in the forest room this time, which was renovated and so fresh and slick inside. The beach is amazing at low and high tide, and those magical sunsets. The staff down in the restaurant and bar are amazing so attentive and friendly and that bar on the beach is lovely.

We took the deluxe rooms which are located right at the beach. This is the low peak season so hotel was practically empty except for us and 2 other guests. Rooms are clean, beach is amazing with an amazing view of the sunset. Food was also good but pricy.

In general, the hotel was okay, with an excellent location.
In general, the hotel was okay, with an excellent location. However, there were some issues to address:
The breakfast had a good variety of food, but unfortunately, warm items were cold. When I requested my sausages to be reheated, they were returned cold, accompanied by a surprised question about wanting them hot. It would be better if the staff anticipated the preference for warm breakfast items.
The bed was so uncomfortable, causing back pain every morning. I tried all sides of mattress, and anyways there was a pit regardless of the position. This might be specific to only my bed, but it needs attention.
The restaurant offers good food at reasonable prices, and the waiters speaks good English and are polite ( except trainees)
Cleanless! Room was clean and tide, but there were several diferent bugs around, but its Africa, you just need to ask to spray your room for bugs (i asked but they never did) and you need to ask for wc paper and ask for clean towels. Water pression in the shower and hot water was very good.
Unfortunately AC didnt wor for last 2 nights. I guess a gas just finished, but noone came to check on it, just excuses about low voltage. Well, when voltage was low even fridge was not working, bet when voltage restored AC and fridge worked excellent. Water got frozen in the fridge in 1h - so thats not a low voltage at all.
Despite the issues, I tought I would consider to come back, but after last 2 nights struggles, I doubt about it.
Particularly I would suggest a room with a sea view and small private pool, keeping in mind that perfection may not exist in every aspect, especially in a place like Zanzibar.

The internet is going to tell you Kendwa has the most...
The internet is going to tell you Kendwa has the most beautiful beach in Zanzibar....it has not....not at all....yes, the beach is nice and wide and white.....but there is no vegetation at all, it's full of sunbeds and umbrellas from the resorts/hotels....way to many traders and not much to offer than going up and down, only to then retreat to your hotel or some place with shade....if you come here for drinks or a party, fine, but don't waste all of your vacation here, when there are many other cheaper and more beautiful places on the island...

Kendwa beach in its self is one of the best I have been too...
Kendwa beach in its self is one of the best I have been too and I have been a regular beach traveller worldwide for the last 40 years. The only advice I would suggest would be to vet the hotel thoroughly as sunseabar was not upto standard it advertised. Go out into local restaurants we tried 4 different ones all were superb so far superior to the hotel

Clean, small and quiet guest house right on the beach!
Clean, small and quiet guest house right on the beach! They welcome you with a delicious fresh tropical juice! It is nice to see local people and fishermen living just next door. In the other hand thou, the front sea is full of boats that make swimming a bit complicated. The staff is very kind. Rooms are sober but clean and furnitures are nicely wooden. Breakfast is in range(no buffet, no choice) but good. Very much recommended place. I would definitely return there.

Kendwa is the perfect beach holiday.
Kendwa is the perfect beach holiday.
This is the only area bot effected by tides.
The beach is wonderful and offers great places to eat. Kendwa rocks offers a great BBQ with live entertainment on Saturdays.
The place was for us, family with two small children, a little gem. Do not let the alley leading to the door fool you. It is right on the beach, and quiet. Clean and nice rooms with big windows. We were welcomed with fresh juice. Five minutes walk to the very crowded area by Kendwa Rocks- where the very best part of the beach is. The chef served the best fish we've had during our four week stay in Zanzibar, also a tasty breakfast. He surprised us with a small squid dish on the side. When we go back we will definitely stay here.
We loved staying here. You get to enjoy one of the nicest beaches in the world (just a 5 minute walk away) at an incredible value. The room was simple but very comfortable and clean. The owner was very friendly and quickly responsive when we had a problem with the toilet. She gave great local recommendations too. The on site breakfast was delicious—including fresh fruit, juice, eggs, and pastries. Would recommend my family and friends to stay here if they visit Zanzibar!
Room was specious and clean . Balcony was big and it was our favorite spot for chilling in the evening . Beach in front of the hotel is one of the best beach in the world . Plenty of sunbeds in the resort so you can always find some spot for yourself without the need to go early to reserve. Resort is secured with a couples of security so if you leave your staff on the sunbeds you feel safe , food was delicious , the staff are friendly , all in all it was excellent stay
The food was excellent, the service was the same, the beach was gorgeous, the weather was perfect. The resort is located at the tip of Zanzibar on the white sand beaches. There are less people here and the beach huts are spaciously apart - the neighboring resorts are crowded in comparison. The property is beautiful and the entertainment is good fun.
We came here for peace and quiet after a long safari and time in Stonetown and the Zanzibar Gold delivered!
Staff were freindly, cooperative and helpful.
location is perfect for sunset view and watersports.
Breakfast boufet is rich, diverse, and delicious.
Thier resturant couisines are delicious. It is the best one we tried in Zanzibar, but their prices are slightly higher, and, most of their couisine are western.
It is a quite old hotel but facilities are in good condition.
Probably the best hotel in Zanzibar, The big benefit is the ability to swim independently of the low/high tide, which is differ from other hotels on the west coast. Great breakfast, excellent beach bar with various programs. good number of sunbeds on the beach and near the pool. we will come back. Thanks for the great tour via Hotel Spice Garden!
Great place in the heart of kendwa!! All you need is in a very near location to varadero and paulino is always available for any question. Fast speed internet, good food with good prices, transfers and tours available for better prices than rest of island, super clean accommodation and friendly staff you will find there. Great place!!
• The location of the SunSeaBar hotel is truly spectacular, with immediate access to the pristine waters of the Zanzibar channel.
• The hotel features a great pool, sun loungers, and a restaurant.
• The hotel was very clean, and housekeeping did a great job throughout, giving public areas and corridors a pleasant fresh smell.
Everything was great! Accommodation quality is amazing for Zanzibar standards but the best thing about this place is Villa's staff, especially Dula. He will help you with EVERYTHING and go the extra mile each time. Location of the place is also great, 4 minutes to the beach, loads of shops and cafes around and it feels safe
The view is to die for. To sit in your balcony and watch the sunset makes the place worth it. It's location is decent a 3min walk to the beach and a minute away from Kendwa rocks. The bed was really comfortable and the room was clean. The staff member (local) at the restaurant was really nice. The building is new and clean.
It's a nice not too big hotel and all the rooms are walking distance to its restaurant. Rooms are big, clean and comfortable. The all-inclusive is in fact partially all-inclusive, which you find out when you read the bar menu. So, if this is important in making your choices, keep this in mind. Hotel staff is very friendly.
The personals was very kind and helpful. They are always here when you need them. We feel like at home. You have the most beautiful beach of zanzibar at 250 meters.
The breakfast was very good and fresh, you have a lot of choices.
Thank you Amina for your service (she’s at the front desk), you are amazing.
Staff more than welcoming, making their best to see the guests happy.
There was an electricity cut offs but its not from the hotel, its a big electricity problem here in Zanzibar now.
But they tried to make the best to keep everything under control.
Nice views and beach front.
Coming back soon <3
The stay at Pumzika was perfect for us, we had an amazing week. The house is just a 2 minute walk from the Kendwa beach, and many good restaurants nearby. Mustafa was an excellent host helping us get the most out of our time in Zanzibar. Thank you!
The hotel offers access to one of the best beaches in the whole of Zanzibar island. Very clean rooms and exceptional hospitality. Thank you guys for making our stay so comfortable. A special thanks to Queen, Ummy and Monika. Love you guys 😘
I really enjoyed my stay in Zanzibar in this hotel. Workers and management very friendly, live music and dances and great breakfast so great value 10/10
