The location was great, not far from the town centre but situated in an area steeped in local history. The building itself is everything and more from a structure of this age, bags of character, pitch black timber beams, mottle and daub walls and a period 'walk in' fireplace. We had booked a family room which was in fact a self contained arrangement of 2 separate rooms, a small landing area with tea and coffee making facilities and two armchairs. Both rooms were decorated with interesting period prints and paintings. Towels were ample in quantity and very soft. The beer was well kept (Harvey's Best Bitter), the atmosphere in the bar very inviting and calm. The bar staff - friendly and efficient. The breakfast was superb and with generous portions. The owner served us and was most friendly and considerate.

It was right by the sea and a great location to start our hike. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. There was plenty of room and we felt well looked-after. There were comfy beds and it was very homey and welcoming.
